Folks in Cuba, the Bahamas , Florida Georgia South Carolina
A SURFACE TROUGH LOCATED FROM THE EXTREME NORTHWESTERN CARIBBEAN SEA
ACROSS CENTRAL CUBA AND INTO THE CENTRAL BAHAMAS IS PRODUCING
WIDESPREAD CLOUDINESS AND THUNDERSTORMS OVER MUCH OF CENTRAL AND
EASTERN CUBA...MOST OF THE FLORIDA PENINSULA AND THE FLORIDA
KEYS...ALL OF THE BAHAMAS...AND ADJACENT ATLANTIC WATERS. THE
TROUGH HAS BECOME A LITTLE BETTER DEFINED AND SURFACE PRESSURES ARE
SLOWLY FALLING. GRADUAL DEVELOPMENT OF THIS LARGE AREA OF DISTURBED
WEATHER IS POSSIBLE OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS AS IT MOVES WESTWARD OR
NORTHWESTWARD AT 5 TO 10 MPH. THIS SYSTEM HAS A MEDIUM CHANCE...
30 PERCENT...OF BECOMING A TROPICAL OR SUBTROPICAL CYCLONE DURING
THE NEXT 48 HOURS.
REGARDLESS OF DEVELOPMENT...THIS DISTURBANCE
WILL PRODUCE STRONG GUSTY WINDS AND LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL ACROSS
PORTIONS OF THE BAHAMAS AND THE FLORIDA PENINSULA OVER THE NEXT
COUPLE OF DAYS. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS DEVELOPING GALE AREA
CAN BE FOUND IN HIGH SEAS FORECASTS ISSUED BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER
SERVICE...UNDER AWIPS HEADER NFDHSFAT1 AND WMO HEADER FZNT01 KWBC.
NHC

Up from 20% in just under an hour - keep an eye on this

http://www.wunderground.com/blog/JeffMasters/comment.html?entrynum=1953
A large low pressure system with heavy rain is developing this morning over Cuba, South Florida, and the Bahamas. The counter-clockwise flow around this low is bringing strong winds and heavy rains to much of the Florida coast. Radar-estimated rainfall amounts are already in excess of four inches along a stretch of Florida coast from West Palm Beach to Daytona Beach. Much of the region, including Cocoa Beach, is under a flood watch, high surf advisories, and a high wind watch for wind gusts of 45 - 55 mph. These these conditions will spread northwards to Georgia by Sunday, and South Carolina by Monday. I doubt that this storm will acquire enough organization to evolve into a subtropical storm that gets a name, based on the latest model output, and the fact that the storm's center may well be over the state of Florida. NHC is currently giving this storm a 20% chance of becoming a named tropical or subtropical storm by Monday morning. This is a large, diffuse system that will bring strong winds and heavy rains to a large area of the Southeast U.S. coast, regardless of the exact center location. Since the storm is going to get its start as a cold-cored upper-level low pressure system with some dry air aloft, it will not be able to intensify quickly.

5. I Live On The West Coast Of Florida & It's Been EXTREMELY Windy All Day!
I opened my windows because it was cooler and don't want to use AC when I can do without. Been blowing things around all over. I'm south of Tampa and I was wondering what was going on. The forecast this AM didn't report any of this. Said slight chance of showers but it's looking weird outside. And my dogs are acting "hinky" or something. We haven't been hit with anything this year and THIS is making me WORRY!

Going to check out the weather station right now. THANKS for the update!

6. On the coast in Central Fl. , we indeed getting
a lot of rain, over 4" since late last night. Our creek which has been less than a foot is now up over 2ft. Some of this area is likely to flood at this rate! I know we are down 10 " or more in rainfall, guess we are going to make up for it all at once!! Winds have been brisk at times. Two more days of this we are being told.

16. It has been raining constantly for the last 24 hours
in Central FL we are under flood advisories. Since emergency response is part of my job, things could soon be getting real busy. It is hard to say, we have been pretty short on rain this year, so if it ends in a day or so it may just refill the lakes instead of flooding folks.

22. Thanks
I made it through direct hits from Charley, Frances, Jean and Fay. This one seems pretty minor by comparison. Being in the flood response business, I happen to live well up on a hill. We will be on the Weather channel, CNN, and MSNBC 24/7 long before the water gets anywhere near my place.

32. Well, as it turned out, it wasn't so bad.
Overcast, windy, occasional showers but none of them lasted more than literally a few minutes, some heavy downpours that were over in 2 minutes!

I put 10 units on in Brunswick today - took over 5 hours, partly because they were bayed up just about as far from the truck loading area as they could be and partly because the difference between putting 9 on (what I had been doing) and that tenth one is an hour and a half of extra work.

Anyway...a pretty miserable, overcast day in SE GA, but at least I didn't get soaked.

26. Ooohhhh! Waves gonna be good on the back side of this.
Just a bit of rain and wind here in St Augustine FL. Nothing we haven't seen before.
It is a shame, as it has dampened the crowd at the Greek Festival, in town this weekend.
Thanks for the heads up Malaise.
Next Bull Bay trip coming up soon!

31. Now 40mph
SURFACE OBSERVATIONS AND SATELLITE IMAGERY INDICATE THAT A LOW
PRESSURE AREA HAS DEVELOPED ABOUT MIDWAY BETWEEN THE FLORIDA EAST
COAST AND THE NORTHWESTERN BAHAMAS. THIS SYSTEM IS PRODUCING
GALE-FORCE WINDS FROM NEAR THE EAST-CENTRAL FLORIDA COAST EASTWARD
OVER THE ATLANTIC FOR SEVERAL HUNDRED MILES. SHOWER ACTIVITY HAS
BECOME A LITTLE MORE CONCENTRATED NEAR THE LOW PRESSURE CENTER OVER
THE PAST SEVERAL HOURS...AND SOME DEVELOPMENT IS STILL POSSIBLE AS
THE DISTURBANCE MOVES WEST-NORTHWESTWARD AT AROUND 10 MPH ACROSS
THE CENTRAL FLORIDA PENINSULA AND INTO THE EASTERN GULF OF MEXICO
DURING THE NEXT DAY OR SO. THIS SYSTEM HAS A MEDIUM CHANCE...30
PERCENT...OF BECOMING A SUBTROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 48
HOURS. REGARDLESS OF DEVELOPMENT...STRONG GUSTY WINDS AND LOCALLY
HEAVY RAINFALL ARE EXPECTED OVER PORTIONS OF THE BAHAMAS AND THE
SOUTHEASTERN UNITED STATES TODAY AND MONDAY. FOR ADDITIONAL
INFORMATION SPECIFIC TO YOUR AREA...PLEASE SEE STATEMENTS ISSUED BY
YOUR LOCAL WEATHER OFFICE.
