Someone points a camera, shoots and then says "you're dead."
The most likely explanation is:

1) they took a photo of the person so they can stalk and then kill them; or

2) they wanted to demonstrate how easy it is to point a device and "shoot" someone

I honestly do not know Fuller's intention, but I'm sort of leaning towards the 2nd one.

1. I think number one is the answer.
Sounds like stalking activity.

2. Many here on DU today are saying this man
is still in shock of some kind after he was shot a week ago

I would tend to agree with this line of reasoning

5. I would agree- PTSD isn't out of the question. While there is no
way to condone his behaviour, it is not difficult to understand. The man he targeted with the photo, publicly claimed that Gabby Gifford was responsible for the shooting, and said that the tea-party was a victim.
Trent Humphries is a jerk imo. But the "your dead" comment was still wrong.

8. Agreed. It was wrong. But I still have empathy for Fuller
I don't think he is quite in his right mind, and who would be after going through what he has been through.

11. I don't think he intended it to be a threat-
and I do think that he's going through hell.

I just read this report that says he was removed from the meeting for "beligerence" and is being evaluated.

I can really understand his frustration and anguish. Sadly, Mr.Humphries will probably milk this for all it's worth and then some.

3. I think he's not in hs right mind because of what happened to him,
and he's acting out in an angry and inappropriate way.

4. Unless you have seen so many people shot up close
all around you it is hard to understand what that experience is like.
Real life is noting like it is on the TV....there is lots of real blood and flesh in real life....but I think I can understand how he feels....I would be angry and say something if it was me.

6. I think Fuller is under a lot of stress & Humphries has said a lot of awful stuff about the shooting
Edited on Sat Jan-15-11 07:27 PM by emulatorloo
In other words, he and the TeaParty are the "real victims"

I hope Fuller can get the rest and healing that he needs

We're Arizona shooting victims too, says Tea Party co-founder
Trent Humphries says killings fallout is evolving into conspiracy to destroy Tea Party and silence criticism of government

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/jan/11/arizona-shootings-tea-party

A nine-year-old girl lies in the morgue. A member of Congress faces a lifetime of struggle to recover from a bullet in the brain. A city is bracing itself for a string of funerals as it tries to fathom the carnage.

But Trent Humphries says there is another innocent victim left by Jared Lee Loughner's killing of six people and wounding of 14 others in his assassination attempt against Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. It is his Tea Party movement and, more particularly, his family. The killings, he says, are evolving into a conspiracy to destroy his organisation and silence criticism of the government.

Humphries is the co-founder of Tucson's Tea Party, a movement besieged by accusations that its use of the rhetoric of armed resistance against political opponents played a role in the shootings.

13. I agree- Humphries seems to be pretty good at pushing people's
buttons on an ordinary day.

I don't believe there was any real threat of violence in Mr.Fuller's response, (camera's don't kill people) but I'm glad he's going to be getting some help.

9. not knowing what the
gun advocate said means we can not explain what Fuller did... the gun advocate may have stated something that made Fuller's response make sense (although possibly inappropriate)

15. Sad that it had to happen this way
But at least he'll have a thorough evaluation and he'll be under care. He probably doesn't have a clue what's really going on with him, and this intervention can be extremely helpful to him.

14. I doubt that he was intending to kill anyone.
But I have no doubts that some messages put out by certain right-wingers were intended to rouse people to do just that.
It's a sad irony that they remain free.

16. Three times now Fuller has been in the news
First, with his discussion of how the pundits are responsible for the shooting, second, with his decision to go by Loughler's parents house to forgive their son, and now this. I'm concerned about this man's mental health. At the very least he could have PTSD but he may have other mental issues.

17. My take: he got shot, and it unbalanced his mind.
Can't say it wouldn't rattle my nerves to get shot out of the blue in a public place. Dude needs help, I suspect he's getting it.
