3. A Romney/Perry or Perry/Romney ticket is likely. |
|
The overtly corrupt establishment of the GOP wants Romney, the right wing wants Perry. There is a good chance these two could be on the ticket. It is still early though.

Might be a pretty formidable ticket too.

The Republican faithful will hold their noses and vote for the cowboy because even a pro-immigration Perry beats the anti-Christ Romney.

|
Way better than some of the so-called Top Tier.
He could end up being the Last Man Standing, the Tabula Rasa upon which all of the nutsos can write their hopes and deepest desires.
He has no substantial record, so he can just make shit up.

9. Don't rule out Bachmann |
|
I know she is way down in the polls now, but she knows how to get wingnuts riled up. Expect her to do something absolutely crazy in the near future, she is desperate for a boost and when Bachmann gets desperate you don't know what is going to happen. She could make a comeback, the wingnuts still love her and could go back to her very easily.

I can tell you who it WON'T be, though: Mitt Romney. Romney's Mormonism is a minor factor here: the people who actually vote in Republican primaries are looking for the person who can return us to the Reagan Eighties the fastest. At the top of the list is repealing healthcare reform, and Romney's having signed the model for Obama's healthcare reform has killed his chances of winning the nomination.
Tom Monaghan of Domino's Pizza infamy would be their dream candidate if they can get him to run.

They have to go with the least crazy sounding motherfucker they have. Romney is that guy. Huntsman has an outside chance if he can make a decent showing in New Hampshire. They're the only two who could beat the President.

31. Precisely. Here in NH (which Obama won in 2008), Romney is running 8 points ahead of Obama. |
|
Edited on Mon Oct-10-11 07:38 AM by Tesha
The Republicans will eventually decide they'd rather win than worry about a few pesky differences of *PLATFORM* policy (which won't amount to a hill of beans once their guy actually wins).
And if they choose Romney, they'll win overwhelmingly. Can you really see the Fundies voting for Obama? Or even staying home when Obama is disgracing the country (in their eyes) by having the temerity to run for re-election?

|
Edited on Mon Oct-10-11 04:57 AM by Firebrand Gary
Murdoch/Ailes number one priority is to prepare future GOP nominee's with exposure, media savvy and connections. It's the reason Sarah got her ticket on the FOX (Train of lies) and why Huckabee got his own show.
Huckabee is widely considered the "Bill Clinton" of the GOP. Sure it's the obvious Arkansas Governor thing, but more the strait talkin, put it in terms folks can really relate to in an Andy Griffith sort of way.
Huckabee is building relationships directly with the conservative voter, hell he showed up for 3 candidates in the Iowa straw poll. He's show is still rolling on Fox.
And for heavens sake, he bought himself one fancy house, IN FLORIDA.

Romney has yet to feel the fire for his mormon faith, the Perry pastor is the first of many, many hard days ahead for Romney. The GOP establishment facepalms at the thought of a Perry/Obama debate, think about it. It's not going to happen.

30. In retrospect, the October Surprise of the 2012 presidential campaign when - |
|
- (then Democrat) president Obama switched party affiliation and ran successfully for re-election as a Republican - should not have come as a surprise to anyone who had closely followed president Obama's policies and deeds.
Mr Obama said that he took inspiration from Poodle Blair, but that he did not want to wait, as had Poodle, until leaving office to take a stand for his deepest beliefs.
"The time is NOW," said the president "for our corporate persons, for persons long discriminated against, to finally have the president which they have paid so dearly for."
"Change I promised. Change I have delivered!" he concluded, voice breaking with the emotion of the moment.
