What an asshole.
http://weareonepercent.tumblr.com/

I worked hard in high school, got a full scholarship, and attended a good university. I have 3 majors, and take 21 credit hours per semester. I get straight A’s because I study over 50 hours a week and I actually study on weekend nights. I am the 1%. I also networked a lot and managed to land two internships: one with a large investment bank this summer, and now I currently work at a hedge fund, on top of my 21 credit hours. I may not sleep much, but I refuse to blame others for my problems, or to give up on my quest to make a good life for myself. I never expected anything from the government, and I never blamed the investment banks on any of my problems. Maybe it’s because I understand how they work, or maybe it’s because I understand that they are good people who are trying to make a good living just like the rest of us. I also know that everyone who works on Wall Street is much more intelligent than everyone in the “99 percent” and that they worked 100+ hours a week out of college to pay off their student loans. As soon as they did, if they were even able to living in Manhattan, they went back for an MBA.

The average investment banker graduates with an MBA at age 28 with over $100,000 in debt. So while you’re mad that the government won’t subsidize you to fingerpaint with your BFA and a low GPA, remember that there’s someone out there who’s still in debt at age 30 with a BS and MBA from Harvard with Honors, who has worked more hours in a week that you could ever fathom. But at least they know what America is all about. The pursuit of happiness. Not the subsidy of happiness, not the gift of happiness…the free ability to pursue your goals, and to aspire to be rich in the future if that is what you desire, or to pursue whatever other goal you might have.

Every 99% post I’ve seen is about how people are in debt and unemployed. Guess what: many investment bankers were laid off in 2008, and have continued to be unemployed. Even Ph.D’s have struggled to find work as quants. Bank of America is firing commercial bankers. Most bulge brackets are on hiring freezes. Unemployment is even worse in the finance world than the rest of society, but you all are too ignorant to realize that.

You should see his comments on the 99% stories. "You should have taken a REAL major in college" "Bankers work 100+ hoirs a week and earn their money" and all the other bullshit.

2. Doesn't even sound true
And he must have been doing speed in college.

Why do they think this finger wagging is going to be credible? Or that the 99% even cares? Then don't work so "hard." That's my answer to that shit. Why should anyone have to work that many hours in this day and age?

100 hours/wk of hard "work" (consisting mostly at screwing honest and TRUE workers) obviously isn't enough, yet... according to the stupid cain.

50. I did a schedule like that in college.
Between working, classes, studying, etc. I was on the go about 20 hours a day, 7 days a week. In the summers I pulled the same hours on the oil field to pay for my college. And I took an average of 25 credits a semester. My main program has a 50 percent attrition rate per year. My other degrees (I took 3 concurrently) weren't much easier. I also worked (musician) nightly for my skittles and beer.

The difference is that I did that and I don't think my shit don't stink.

Seriously, the dudes on Wall Street are smarter? Seriously. A friend of mine works in Fleet street as an international comparative law specialist and he doesn't say very complementary things about wall streeters he is forced to work with unless you think "too stupid to masturbate" is a complement.

Want to prove you are useful to society as well as smart - get an Engineering degree. Any idiot can just move money around. A painter provides more value than you. A mechanic provides more value than you. A cook provides more value than you. They produce things. You produce nothing! The money you pretend to produce is merely stolen from others.

it's sad that our society is so focused on constant growth and monetary gain that many young people are just success machines. To me people like this are sociopathic. The only thing that makes many of us happy is winning.

People are heartless, I see it every day, things like the video I can't forget of the young girl throwing a bag of kittens down a river, humans are constantly constantly doing these things to the beautiful world, the innocent animals. And I will see us get even worse and worse, I'm just glad my years are half over.

30. The 1%'s "work" is de-criminalized THEFT from the 99%.
Their "wealth" is not earned it is stolen, and belongs to someone else - those who actually earned it and built it. Regardless of lawless laws.

The 1% are no better and no different than knee-cappers on street corners. And their work is no different, only now the courts which used to prosecute them are enforcers for them instead because crimes have been repealed. That doesn't make the crime any less of a crime, and it doesn't make the criminals legitimate (only they themselves think so). Reality still prevails - just because a crime is taken off the books, that doesn't make it so that the crime didn't occur. The uber-rich are a criminal enterprise, and the more money we allow them to accumulate through absurdly low taxation and favoritism the more laws they can buy and be immune from, the more thefts they can go into. It's a vicious circle, and it will get worse until it just collapses and stops - when not enough victims are left to feed on, the the sharks will start feeding on each other.

We know who the criminals are. And we also know who does the earning and building. THEFT is still THEFT even if the law says it's ok. The 1% are just hoods who are immune from prosecution at the present time. But that can change. And it will. It's only a matter of time. When enough people who enable this have been wiped out themselves by it, it will change. We are nearing a tipping point now.

Al Capone was wealthy too. The only difference is he neglected to buy-off the laws he wanted to break before he broke them. Doing so, is what makes today's "businessmen" think they are so clever, it's the "expertise" they always bring up to justify their $million bonuses. Well "amoral" is not the same thing as "talented", the "emperor isn't wearing any clothes". It's an undeniable fact, it only needed the moment for the guy-in-the-street (the 99%) to become willing to say so, publicly. OWS is doing that. The 1%'s days are numbered, but they have such an entitled mentality they can't even imagine themselves becoming vulnerable or insecure, as their thefts have done to millions of others.

It should be a good show, when the swells' ship sinks beneath them... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_Hc0TDBR3s ...I predict a rise in the stock of popcorn companies.

32. "never expected anything from government"? Really? Public or private high school?
The schools you went to before; public or private? You pay for the private schools or did mommy and daddy? Scholarship was a private fund or government? University; same question. If private, did you pay or did mommy and daddy?

Did they buy you a car and pay your insurance or did you pay? Did you use public transportation to get to and from school; to your "100 hr a week" job and internships?

Who did your grocery shopping so you could eat during those "100 hours"? Mommy? Daddy? Girlfriend? Boyfriend? Eat a lot of fast food while being waited on by those about whom you show such contempt? How would you have eaten without them? How do you know your food wasn't toxic? Have a private tester?

Who fixed your car, if you had one? Where did they learn their trade?

Who did your laundry? You? After "100 hours" of work? Who took out the trash? Who picked up the trash from the curb? On what streets did you drive or ride?

Who paid for your housing? Did you live at home? How do you know the house was built well? Was it built well? Were there permits and standards and codes?

Who maintains your life so you can work a "100 hours"?

You never expected anything from government?

Bullshit.

If it wasn't the government helping you it was sure as hell someone else. You don't do what you do without someone helping you. Who paid for the electricity, your phone, your internet, clean water? All those government and pseudo-government services you use and think nothing of?

You're not the 1%. You're part of the overseer class of the 99%. Hell, you're not even part of the gatekeeper class of the 99%. The difference between you and me; they gave you a lifetime supply of KY; and you're grateful.

Get back to me when you run your own life AND work "100 hours".

Fool.
