Tucson: "Neighbors talk of 'gentle bear' still in hospital"
James Tucker is known in his northwest Tucson neighborhood as someone willing to lend a hand.

Tucker, 58, was wounded in Saturday's shooting outside Tucson and remains in fair condition at University Medical Center. His family has declined requests to be interviewed. He is an environmental-health and -safety fire inspector at Raytheon Missile Systems in Tucson.

Tucker lives with his wife, Doris, about two miles from the Safeway at Ina and Oracle. Neighbors paint a picture of a quiet man, concerned about his community - a quiet enclave of 77 sand-colored houses on two parallel streets - and willing to lend a hand when it counts.

Not too much information as to his condition.
