Freerepublic, after all, is the place that tipped us off to Buckhead, and to Jeff Gannon (Talon News!) and other stealth operatives. Didn't find black T-shirt guy yet, but I did learn that FR has its own videographer covering protests. The FR user name is oceander. Another FR user is posting his/her videos. That FR user is a military mom, FR user name is mystery/ak.

Oceander, the FR videographer, has been taking film at NYC OWS; don't know yet if he/she went to D.C.

1. Making a few 'Protests for Dummies' videos for FR?
Take note, this is how it's done...

What is more instructive is the whois information for the domain occupywallstreet.org, which was registered on July 9, 2011. That domain goes to a webpage that looks different from the webpage for the .com domain; however, the content refers to the same organization and activities, so it's a good bet that they're owned/run by a common organization.

Nonetheless, they do have different IP addresses and are run on different hosting companies (although they are both run on multiple hosting machines, which means that they are virtual hosts (if they're on Apache, which they almost certainly are). That, of course, suggests some interesting avenues of exploration.

That being said, the whois information for occupywallstreet.org - which the facts indicate is run by the same outfit running occupywallstreet.com - confirms that the domain name was registered by someone from Vancouver, Canada (clearly astroturfing and interference in the domestic affairs of another country if you ask me). That whois info, which is public, is as follows:

Perhaps someone should give Kalle Lasn a ring and see if he is affiliated with the bunch of yobbos currently making a pigsty out of lower Manhattan? If that doesn't work, and if the contact address in that whois info isn't correct, there is only one Kalle lasn in the whitepages.com listings, so perhaps one could contact Kalle that way:

Kalle Lasn
(604) 856-3419
26718 60 Ave
Aldergrove, BC V4W 1V7

Kalle also has a less-than-inspiring blog page at adbusters.org (where he is apparently "on-staff" although, from other sources, he is a founder), which can be viewed here: http://www.adbusters.org/authors/kalle_lasn

Guess he spends too much time crossing the US-Canada border to foment trouble that he/she doesn't have the time to maintain the page. Too bad.

The homepage for adbusters.org - http://www.adbusters.org/ - gives a good idea of what this group wants to do to the US (they've given us a visual aid, even):

11. Really?
You are thankful that some nitwit at Free Republic did a whois search showing that Occupy Wall Street originated with an idea from Ad Busters? That's a well known fact, but they seem to think they've cleverly uncovered something nefarious.

5. That's pathetic
The leaps in logic are breathtaking.

From what I understand, there is an analogous movement in Canada. That's why there's a Vancouver connection. He's making it sound like they're trying to undermine the U.S. government or something. They're influenced by the U.S. movement, not the other way around.

And does he even understand what astroturf means? How is this "clearly astroturfing"? :eyes:

Everyone knows that.

I don't understand why you think you've found something surprising.
