Wisconsin: GOP leaders support concealed carry at Capitol
http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/news/131462373.html

..snip..

Madison -- Support is building among top GOP officials for allowing concealed guns at the Capitol.

The leaders of both houses of the Legislature and the attorney general have now all gone on record saying they would accept the practice.

..end..

You can't have a sign mounted on a stick, but a 14-round, 40-caliber Para is OK? These guys think differently than I.

1. How about a sign mounted on the barrel of a gun?
Let 'em figure out what to do with that one...

2. Like carrying a gun doesn't make it threatening in such a charged atmosphere. lol!
Sure way to silence critics by packing heat.

6. If the gun is concealed, then there is no threatening or changing of atmosphere.

When you go out in public, dozens of people around you may be carrying and you'd never know.

I don't think concealed carry in the capitol is a big deal at all. Guns would be hidden so there's no distractoins to worry about. Ohio has concealed carry allowed almost everywhere and when I go out I don't think twice about people around me who may or may not have guns.

9. "implied threat" ?

How can there be an implied threat from someone who you don't know is armed? If you don't know some guy's armed... how can you make the inference that he might be threatening you with a firearm?!?

Now, if you're talking about someone brandishing or threatening someone else with a (formerly concealed) gun then - I'm pretty sure that's still against the rules and they should contact security.

5. But here is the crazy part
That if we don't allow conceal carry in th state, we will have to bring back metal detectors at the Capital. That is how batshit crazy they have become

snip~

Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) also said that he would have no problems with allowing concealed carry in the Capitol. He said the only way to ensure that there are no guns in the Capitol would be to bring back metal detectors.

“If you’re not going to do that, then you’ve got buy into the idea that concealed carry is going to work the way it works in 48 other states,” Fitzgerald said.

7. Texas has metal detectors at the entrance...
...but you can bypass those if you have a Concealed Handgun License. This had the odd effect of creating a rush for slots in CHL classes, since lobbyists and other regular capital visitors wanted the permits in order to be able to bypass the security line.
