Sorry this took so long to post, but I've been pretty busy since Saturday.
I got to OWS a little earlier than our planned meeting time. I walked around the park. I don't think the pictures or even the video do it justice. The people in the park are seriously sacrificing. They are sleeping on hard ground. It's not some sort of camp site. There is almost no personal space. Each sleeping bag and tarp is next to the other. Some people were still asleep while I was there. There were people walking around in the park while others slept or lived their lives. There is no privacy of course. I saw one lady undressed in public while she was changing.
I saw people mocking a talking head that asked where the occupiers go to the bathroom, but it is a real concern. There are no bathrooms there and no showers.
It was great to meet DUers. It's been a few years since the last time I've done that. It's funny to connect faces to names. Thankfully there were no in-person flame wars. :D
I met Steve Leser there and we spent a couple hours together. He's an interestting guy and a great representative for us on TV.
Steve and I ran into Howard Dean's brother Jim Dean. He walked right by us wearing a pink shirt and a Democracy For America button. I don't think a lot of other people recognized him. We went back to talk to him. He said he was trying to find out of the sleeping bags they ordered were delivered, but he didn't know who to talk to. :D
Here are my pictures:
