Mitt Romney's religious beliefs don't matter to me.... |
|
...as long as he doesn't say he'll govern from the bible.
What's that? He says he will?
Then his religion matters gravely.

1. Neither do I. Same conditions. |

As an aside, wasn't it interesting there was no comment about Perry's preacher who called Mormonism a cult from Glenn Beck? Talk abotut a dilemma: do you defend your faith at the expense of losing your dwindling audience and influence?

2. Nor I - but the hypocrisy of it all is where the problem lies |
|
The right spent 3 years trying to claim Obama was Muslim and being so alarmed at the possibility that religion while proclaiming it does not matter for their side.
Had they not done that, this should also apply here, religion should be off the table, but don't use it as character assassination for one candidate if you can't apply it to all.
But then everything the republicans do comes down to their own hypocrisy!

3. Although his religious beliefs matter greatly to thousands of religiously conservative Christians |

just for his being a Mormon regardless as to what he may say about governing from the Bible.

4. Doesn't matter to me either, the fact that he's Republican is plenty enough to not vote for him. |

5. All beliefs matter to me |

Candidates should have to explain, if asked (and they should be asked), how beliefs in any number of things influence them as pertaining to their potential role as President of the United States.
Oh, but wait. Religious beliefs are "off the table", despite the fact that they are often among-if not the most- salient and compelling beliefs a person has. Lovely.

with the same conditions.
Keep religion out of government and it's all good.

in no way has Romney indicated he has any core beliefs. Thus how can a predict he would use the Mormon bible or any other source to draw ideas from. He once again has apparently no core beliefs other than buying companies and selling them off in parts for profit and costing Americans jobs. That's the only thing he seems consistent in.

9. Religious beliefs do matter to me. |

I want to know exactly how candidates' beliefs impact their decision-making, guide their ethics and morals, and shape their character. The exact religion isn't important, but I would like to know if the individual has the capacity to be a compassionate and rational individual committed to leading a nation dependent upon a secular government.
