America will never recover till all republicans are voted out |
|
of government.... I didn't come up with that phrase. Another poster did. But i've been saying for months; the DNC has to come up with some killer messaging phrases that are applied nationswide: i.e.
--The modern GOP will not compromise and will work with no one. So voting for the GOP at any level is voting for gridlock
--If you want government to do anything, you need to choose all Democrat who will fight for the 99%. If you want government that fights for the 1% vote all GOP. There can no longer be an effective divided government with the modern GOP that will fight against the 99% at all time at all cost. ( It's true!)
You repeat this enough at every level--from county supervisor to POTUS, the messaging will resonate and frankly it won't be close, regardless of the economy. The only ones that will vote GOP are the 1% themsleves and the 30% dominionists.

2. I'd say "enough of the repubs" not "all". I know some repubs who are not gridlockers. |
|
Unfortunately those in congress are.

3. You make a huge assumption that voters want a functioning government that accomplishes things |
|
There are plenty of districts and states with majority registered Republican voters who do not want government to succeed. Granted, many of them are ignorant of everything government does; but educating them is too much to ask from the corporate controlled DNC and Obama.

4. I think its pretty obvious your argument fails |
|
Simply because of your presumption that Democrats will fight for the 99%. Very damned few of them have stood up for much of anything. The closest thing to a Democrat in the Congress is an Independent named Bernie and in the Party itself there are only a handful that should be considered to be Democrats in any meaningful way.

5. Change Republicans to conservatives and you're right |
|
Just voting out Republicans isnt enough, the conservatives have infiltrated our own party, so there wouldnt be much "change"......... as we see already.

9. change "conservatives" to "right-wingers". |
|
the term "conservative" has become a right-wing propaganda term to appropriate the connotation of responsibility, care, community, and husbandry in the word "conservative" and apply it to the advocates of irresponsibility, selfishness, greed, and pollution.
the old eisenhower/rockefeller conservative is now squarely in the middle of the democratic party, with a few actual liberals to th left and a few right-wingers (nelson, lieberman, etc.) to the right.

6. Your OP assumes that everybody believes |
|
that the desires of society trump the rights of the individual. Not everybody agrees with that, so you will have to convince them otherwise if you wish the country to recover according to your opinion.

8. you must have read a different op. |
|
the one i read didn't make assumptions about what anyone believes, and certainly not about what EVERYBODY believes. nor did it get into questions of society vs. individual.
the op i read accused republicans of intransigence and representing solely the interest of the top 1%.

12. you're making quite the generalization as to why people vote republican |
|
there are many rationales. you cite one of many, but even that is a poor explanation as there are many people who believe the rights of society trump the rights of individuals yet vote republican, and still many others who believe the rights of individuals trump the rights of society yet don't vote republican.
republicans have a several propaganda tactics and themes and each of them finds its share of victims.

10. So let's pretend for a minute |
|
that all Republicans are voted out.
People think that's the end of the strife and all the rest of the bickering over how the government should be run, right?
No.
What happens when Democrats start fighting amongst themselves?
Liberal Democrats think Conservative Democrats suck.
Moderate Democrats think Conservative and Liberal Democrats suck.
Next thing we know, all the various "degrees" of the Democratic party are saying...
"America will never recover until all Liberal/Moderate/Conservative (choose one) Democrats are voted out".
I mean, really...the contempt on these boards, one group for another, is apparent enough to make that whole scenario plausible.
So yeah...let's get rid of everybody who doesn't think/believe as we do. :eyes:
Which is not to say that we should vote FOR Republicans...but I honestly can't see where eradication of one side or another will make things any better.

Even a lot of the Democrats are bought and paid for- there are very few politicians who truly seem to be on the side of the American people.
