Rupert Murdoch Declares War On Occupy Wall Street

"News Corp is trying to portray the protests as dangerous places full of shady characters where drugs and sex are running rampant. The Post article even worked in a quote and a reference to Woodstock. The strategy is clear. News Corp is combining their resources to spread an anti-Occupy Wall Street message across multiple media properties and platforms. This is an escalation of their attack on the protesters and their message.

Murdoch is using his vast media empire to declare war on Occupy Wall Street and the 99%. News Corp is now coordinating their message and attacks. The anti-Occupy message has been appearing on several News Corp owned properties individually, but the media giant is now trying to unify the dissemination of their misinformation. News Corp has gone from mocking the protests, to denying the size of the protests, to launching an all-out coordinated misinformation campaign against Occupy Wall Street.

News Corp and the right wing media have been trying for over a week now to slow down the growth of this movement with no success. More people are joining the existing protests, and new protests are springing up around the country. The 99% don't have a Rupert Murdoch, but they do have thousands of people taking to Twitter, Facebook, blogs and websites to report the truth about these protests.

The one percent have their media machine churning out their propaganda 24/7, but they are fighting a message war that they are destined to lose."

1. Public opinion is going for OWS ...
and the people who accept News Corp as gospel are gonna believe whatever they say. They're moot.

2. They're using the old "dirty hippies" tactic - but those hippies ushered in...
...big changes in civil and environmental rights, and this movement is just as threatening to the status quo.

12. What they don't realize is that, by using the OLD "dirty hippies" tactic,
they automatically 'shine a light' on the 1% non-hidden intentions of tra$hing the entire world eco-systems with total impunity from all the complicitly corrupt governments they can bribe to that effect (heck, they already started to tra$h the world for mega-profit$ since a few decades now, and we know where that irresponsible system is going to lead the human race: self-extinction).

Oh, but they wear top-designer clean suits in pictures, on teevee...

Big effing deal!

14. The newest crop of Republicans are running on rolling back EPA regulations...
They're completely oblivious to the damage that's being done - living in a fantasyland of their own creation.

The good news is that intentions are more out in the open than usual - if voters can't see it yet, God help us all.

I'm waiting for when "then you win" comes. I don't know how long the fight period will last.

If this movement grows the rest of this year and into next year, the 2012 elections could be good for us. I think that is what is scaring the shit out of the right.

Instead of fighting Obama they also have to fight "The American People."

28. They don't even have to fight Obama.
Edited on Thu Oct-13-11 07:10 AM by Laelth
So far, he's given them just about everything they wanted, including three, shiny, new trade agreements that will further enrich the 1% at the expense of the 99%.

Obama should be their hero. They trash him only because he has a D following his name.

9. Just keep on destroying FOX CREDIBILITY, that is fine with me!
The closer we get to the 2012 election, the more discredited FOX MEDIA AND THE MURDOGS WILL BE. Can't wait for Hannity and O'Reilley to get what they deserve in he public arena. They are TPARTY NATIONALISTS, who can't stand a black man being President of the US and they value their salaries over their country and the common good. They are misguided, midget minded men who spew words crafted to deceive on a daily basis. They act in direct conflict with their IRISH backgounds of pride, honor and personal integrity.

10. Good, let the criminal enterprise of Murdoch's Minions continue to destroy their own credibility
with the people.

By the way has anybody heard any fresh updates re: Murdoch's wiretapping scandal?

Thanks for the thread, Galraedia.

16. His assets in the U.S. should be expropriated and his properties
nationalized with no compensation to his shareholders.

That's how you fight back against a fascist pig like Murdoch.

29. I hope you're right
My dad is trying to get a friend of his to stop watching Fux all day. These authoritarian voices droning their convoluted lies are apparently soothing to the elderly, who want everything made baby simple like the good ol days. Dad has had some success getting her to wean off it, from consistently pointing out the wrong thinking.

Yeah I think there are some signs of slippage of that tight grip of the right wing on the media.

24. I'm sure the feeling is totally mutual.
OWS should be as much at war with Fox/Murdock as Murdock is with OWS.
Murdock/Fox holds a lot of the blame over the disaster we're in.

25. privately funded cointelpro
In my opinion, Rupert is probably funding the agitators disrupting OWS. It looks like Michael Stack was involved in the inciting to riot at the Air and Space museum. He was also one of the architechts of Weinergate, and bragged online that his bosses gave him the "tools to get anything on anyone", etc. And I believe NJ is where Ruperts people got in big trouble for wiretapping 911 victims phones. I can only hope old jowly gets sent to prison.
