1. Without a trace of sarcasm: I don't think the PTB EVER intend to shut down ANY of the wars we're in.

2. But the old ones are all scuffed and dirty
This one will be shiny and new! With lots and lots of exciting pictures of stuff blowing up reel gud, and reporters getting to earn their "war correspondent" chops. You can't do that in Iraq or Afghanistan anymore. Don't you want to see second tier reporters get ahead? Why are you so jealous of people succeeding? Besides, it's not like you'll know (probably) anybody that's killed in Iran, so what's the big schmeal?

15. Iraq is done. Nevermind the 50,000 troops and 100,000 contractors
there being shot at on a daily basis.

It's done.

12. And when politicians talk about reducing military spending...
they're mostly referring to that little green sliver under Veterans in that graph...

13. Something really scary about that pie...
(sorry to respond to you twice on this)

Imagine what invading Iran would look like on that pie. My understanding is that their army is quite a bit more formidable than Iraq's was, and the invasion would be much more difficult, and logically, more expensive. So the piece of that pie for Iran would be even larger than the one for Iraq.

Even assuming to a certain extent the pie would get bigger, how much of the pie would be left for all that other stuff in green? Not a whole hell of a lot.

9. Screw that! How about if we decide to stop the wars and not start any more
Are we now starting wars on FBI or CIA created almost-plots? Really? Is that really considered an attack on our country? We now go to war for nothing more than fabricated lies. Is this another damn lie?

I suspect it is. And if it isn't it's still not a reason to instill sanctions or to prepare for war.

WTF is the matter with our leaders?! Is war the only answer to everything?!

11. Manufacturing bogeymen and fighting lost wars shows that a candidate is "tough" during a campaign.
Which is the point of the whole charade.

14. We have been planning to go into Iran for decades now.
What do you think the wars in Iraq and Pakistan are about?

Haven't you looked at a map lately. And, of course, Pakistan is caught between its historical archenemy India and our troops in Afghanistan.

Sorry to be sarcastic. I just want to make a point.

The larger strategy could well be aimed at Iran and to a lesser extent only to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Think of a chess game. We want to corner Iran's king. Checkmate.

18. I fear a major war is the goal and the trump card of the oligarchy.
Threats to the banking system and the world economy are often met with war.

Our economy is wrecked. We have little real industry apart from the military industrial complex. The population is growing more restless and desperate. I think we will see a steady, purposeful escalation of tensions with Iran and a drumbeat to come together as Americans against a ginned up threat.

And what better way for the private banking cartel to remain indispensable and protected from serious reform, than to ensure an even more urgent need for the loans they provide in order to fund a necessary war?
