House GOP Announces Plan for America’s Job Creators
Edited on Wed Oct-12-11 05:26 PM by Galraedia
"Today Speaker Boehner and House Republicans introduced A Plan for America’s Job Creators, a common-sense plan that builds on the GOP’s job creation efforts and includes a number of provisions outlined in A Pledge to America. Here’s a glimpse at the new Majority’s plan to:

>> Lower Taxes and Simplify America’s Tax Code. “The plan would lower the highest tax rate for individuals and businesses from 35 to 25 percent, according to a fact sheet obtained by CBS News. Tax reform is also on the agenda "to allow American businesses to bring back their overseas profits without having to pay a tax penalty so they can invest in our economy and create American jobs." (CBS, 5/26/11)

>> Shut Down the Job-Crushing Red Tape Factory in Washington, D.C. “One piece, known as the REINS Act — for Regulations from the Executive In Need of Scrutiny — would require congressional approval of federal regulations that have a “significant” impact on the economy.” (The Hill, 5/26/11)

>> Open New Markets to American Farmers and Manufacturers. “The proposal also focuses on the need to pass the pending trade agreements with Colombia, South Korea, and Panama. These agreements are long overdue and as the proposal highlights will lead to the creation of 250,000 jobs. When passed, the three trade deals will yield a $13 billion increase in economic revenue for U.S. businesses, as well as the hundreds of thousands of jobs highlighted above.” (Americans for Tax Reform, 5/26/11)

>> Address High Gas Prices. Politico notes that the GOP’s plan will “Maximize Domestic Energy Production to Ensure an Energy Policy for the 21st Century

romote lower energy prices through increased domestic production.” (The Huddle, 5/26/11)

The GOP’s Plan for America’s Job Creators follows months of tough work to stop Washington Democrats’ historic spending binge that is crowding out private-sector job creation. And it couldn’t come at a better time, as Reuters reports that unemployment remains unacceptably high at near 9 percent and jobless claims remain above 400,000 a week.

Republicans pledged to listen to the American people who are fed up with Washington’s debt-driven, government-expanding policies and act to help create jobs and end economic uncertainty. That’s exactly what they’re doing."

This is f-ing ridiculous. How the hell is "allowing American businesses to bring back their overseas profits without having to pay a tax penalty" going to create jobs? WTF is wrong with these people?

1. Stuff the pockets of corporations with cash so they can invest in overseas markets. Got it.

5. Sort of what they did for the first decade of this century and how did that work out for America?
They, plus most of America, especially the MSM, seem to have total amnesia about the last deacde and how Republicans ran things...

10. Deja vu again?
This is the same song and dance. They make assumptions that need to be questioned openly. Will the rich increase investment by the exact amount of the tax cut? Why don't they invest that much without the tax cut and just have less money? Why don't we just pay them less to begin with and create jobs with that money?

These questions are admittedly not well thought out, but we need to corner them on this. They have been able to spin this narrative unchallenged for too long, and it festers as a solution to every economic downturn it creates.

14. Do you have a better solution?
There's nothing that pisses me off more then when someone trashes an idea and has nothing better to offer. Don't come to me with public sector jobs - that is not the answer. We need to encourage private sector investment in this country and private sector jobs. How would you get that done?

15. What's the idea?
How will any of these proposals create jobs?

What pisses me off is when people believe this shit.

How about tax cuts for corporations who keep jobs in the US, and tax penalties for ones who tuck their money and labor away offshore? On paper, they can be designed to offest each other as things are now, and if the corporations want their precious tax cuts, they need to earn them.

The bottom line to me is that the US is not all that attractive of a place to invest right now. We need to change that. Other countries are competing for investment dollars - why aren't we?
