Ok, ok I get it...this Iranian plot is mean to distract |
|
And came from DC.
So how much did the US government pay mexican intel?
What was the price paid to the Instituto Nacional de Migración for them to arrest patsy at the Mexico City airport and return to JFK?
Here is the deal, this was amateurish as hell. I will give this to the President of Iran. This did not come from his office. I am also willing to bet not from the pro side of the Qootz force. It was either a rogue group or quite frankly a probe. But it is real, or this is a very large conspiracy involving people from three Mexican agencies and two us agencies, if not three. (There is state too)
Will this lead to war? Nope, the saber rattling though is to be expected... And none should be shocked if Israeli and saudi intel at least talk to each other now.
But please, too large and cross national borders to be a good one. I am not even counting the third nation involved, Argentina.

No my bet is Iranian, it is far from a unified government. There are two major factions and at least five minor ones.

4. Or, maybe it is what they've said it is. |
|
I understand that people tend to feel these attacks and plots are all staged to induce fear, or to open the way for war. However, I think it's a bit much to assume that every single incident is a Machiavellian ploy. There are bad and/or crazy people out there who want to harm other people. Governments wanting to harm other governments is as old as civilization.
I can't say with certainty that it was for real, but I don't assume everything's a trick, either. The world's a lousy place and, if this is as it appears, the Saudi Arabian ambassador and everyone around him escaped a terrible death.

happened.
The amateur hour aspect of this is familiar to those of us who know the details about similar failed or foiled "terrorism" plots - the Underwear Bomber, the Times Square Bomber, the Sears Tower bomber plotters - hapless, low-level wannabe operatives who lacked the means, and in some cases the original motive, to carry out attacks that were planned, equipped, and ultimately "foiled" by US law enforcement or intelligence agencies.
It's as simple as that - if it weren't for the political types trying to turn this into an excuse to start a new series of wars.
There is zero evidence this was an official act. This is another "Underwear Bomber" case. Nobody was talking about war with Nigeria, and for good reason.

Mexican paamilitaries.
As to us DEA inserting itself into the cartels, it goes as far back as the 1980s. A few times it's gone horribly wrong.

15. If it weren't for the DEA and US drug laws, there wouldn't be any Mexican cartels, would there? |
|
Everyone would have to be earning an honest, peaceful living, or getting stoned and not giving a sh-t. It's been going horribly wrong since Prohibition.
When you mix the GWOT and the War on Drugs, you have two catastrophes colliding into armed chaos. But, it's stuff like this that will probably keep Congress authorizing money for this madness.

Fully for all ills. I am all for legalization by the way. But I place far more onus on internal Mexican conditions for the rise of the cartels. Oh and shh the first war on drugs in Mexico was in the 1960s, well before the DEA or FBI could really openly work in Mexico...now the CIA ...let's not go there.

I do agree with that. And I would bet this sort of thing happens more often than we know. Maybe this time they just decided to share since it happened and can take the news off other things ... I wouldn't assume it was some big conspiracy or that sort of thing. That's what I meant about "convenient".

Or tat the us used assets it had? Or that a faction of the iranian government did the transfers? Perhaps this was cooked by rogue CIA with mi-6 for flavor, funneling money to the made up cartels...yup, that's the ticket. I get the cynicism but real conspiracies do not cross borders this way.

Or you think all manichean evil plans come from dc? And yes, everybody else is clean as innocent doves?
I guess the bombing in Buenos Aires that the Iranian government carried out was CIA. I forgot, the president is our plant and on command denied the holocaust ever happened. I tell ya that CIA is incredibly agile.

35. Even if Iran did probe us, it's nothing new in the scheme of things. |
|
The Soviet Union routinely probed US defenses at the height of the Cold War. They would even go so far as to let their warplanes briefly dip into US air space in order to gauge US response times and watch for weaknesses in protocol. We did the same thing to them. If the US government went and reported to the media every time the Soviet Union probed the US, like it seems to be doing with this amateurish Iranian attempt at a probe, there would have been widespread support for a war in 1962 during the missile crisis, as the population would be so whipped up in fear that they'd be at risk of pulling the trigger without contemplating the full consequence of that action, and a more hawkish president than JFK would've likely been in office at the time.
