So last weekend I took 2 days off... |
|
Edited on Wed Oct-12-11 07:15 PM by catnhatnh
...And spent them with my brother riding motorcycles through southern New Hampshire....
The weather was great-mid to high 70's and sunshine throughout the state and near peak foliage. We rode backroads and small towns following the twists and turns of two lane blacktops along the rivers and ponds of a lesser known part of our beautiful adopted state. There may be something more soul satisfying than two bikes leaned over and snarling through a forest painted in the multi-colors of bright blown maples and winter ready pines but I haven't seen it. I am deeply grateful for those days.
And the kernel of truth to take from my post is this-we lost a days profit to gain a day "not profiting". But I'm 58 and next fall neither riding a bike nor EVEN breathing is a given. Neither is my brother or a sunny day. But those two days were mine and they are his and both were something to remember and treasure.
And you should find those chances too.

Those are missed opportunities that often don't come around again.

3. Which, besides having a job, we should be examining what is |
|
living? AND what we are living for? I think its a very pertinent question. Yes, we should be productive, but the way we work today is insane and for what? What can you take with you when you die.. AND these days the corporate beasts have created a dire situation where the worker fears asking for anything at all because someone else is willing to do the job, probably for less, with less complaint... The fear to be productive. Corporate slaves. Its not just a job, it the type of job, for how long, for how much, and does it benefit human kind or does it do more to destroy the planet of which we have only one that I know of we can cohabit at this time and into the foreseeable future unless a far superior intelligent space being comes to visit and help out.
