OWS Denver can no longer camp near the state capitol, says Gov. Hickenlooper...
http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/29475029/detail.html

"DENVER -- The governor announced Thursday that the Occupy Denver group will no longer be allowed to camp overnight in downtown Denver.
Gov. John Hickenlooper said that they can convene between 5 a.m. and 11 p.m. but they cannot camp in front of the capitol, which is on state property.
State law is that they cannot camp, cannot have open fires, cannot create unsanitary conditions on state land, said Attorney General John Suthers, who was at the news conference with Hickenlooper and Mayor Michael Hancock.
Hancock said that this is not a First Amendment issue, it's an issue about the health, safety and well being of the people of Occupy Denver as well as the people who live, work and play in Denver."

Oh my, I wonder what the hell will happen now? Will the police move in on them tonight? I will keep you folks up to date.

It isn't as large as some of the other demonstrations around the country, but it is there, and it is obviously big enough now to cause trouble.

3. Oh, this is just the beginning.
What happens now during the "clean up" will spark further outrage, should there be any violence done to the protesters.

Something tells me they aren't going to go peacefully. They will resist, and rightfully so. But that gives the other side the opening to do some damage to them.

2. State property is paid for by taxing the people! They own it. They should be able to occupy it.

7. Governments will be using a bogus "public health and safety" claim to bust up the encampments.

This is also happening in New York City.

And if there is resistance they will claim the demonstrators are violent rioters that must be suppressed.

12. This seems to be the move in most cities. Does anyone think that
daily demonstrations would be less effective than the overnight ones? Just return in the mornings. It would still be a long term occupation. These mayors are crazy - the protesters are fighting for them and also for their cities which are all in debt due to the economic crisis we are in.

it means having things organized so that they 'knock-down and set-up' fast.

It certainly means differences in where people will sleep and it would create transportation demands.

That may mean a different approach to things like public address equipment, information centers, food-water, etc.

None of these things is insurmountable, but they do pose some challenges that require some considered organization.

16. They should organize like the teabaggers did. Use one day events, clean up afterward, and return
each day for another one.

He announces this on the day Denver had to pay $200,000 in a lawsuit over false arrests at the Convention in 08.

http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/denver-settles-democratic-convention-arrest-suit-14729080

"The American Civil Liberties Union and the city of Denver of have reached a $200,000 settlement in a lawsuit filed after the largest mass arrest during the 2008 Democratic National Convention.

Senior U.S. District Judge Richard Matsch approved the deal Wednesday, ending a suit brought by people who said they were wrongly arrested at a protest during the convention.

The Denver Post reports ( http://bit.ly/rpyIK9 ) the lawsuit involved 93 plaintiffs. It was the last outstanding suit against the city for its role in hosting the convention where Barack Obama received the Democratic presidential nomination.

Most of the $200,000 settlement will go to the lawsuit's original eight plaintiffs, with $20 each going to the rest. The agreement also requires additional police training."

Fucking asshole trying to frame this as for the benefit of the protesters. The fucking hubris on this guy...
