The longer I am un-employed, the more... interesting the jobs I apply for
I've been out of work for a long time with little to no prospects. I send out anywhere from 30-75 resumes a week in my field all over the country. I also look for any job I can get... Supermarket, 7/11, fast food... anything and everything I can apply at.

Today I applied for a job as a Bud Tender. Yes, thats right, working growing Medical Marijuana. I meet all of the qualifications (except for having an MMED but getting that is not a problem and they do not require you have it for 10 days after starting). This would be a cool one to come through. It's gotta be better then if the 7/11 came through :D

3. heh, no
I would have to be registered as a legal MM patient in order to get any and even then I believe only at a legal dispensary. Though once I have insurance, I plan on seeing a doctor and entering the program.

18. What a shame!
It would be good to enter the program but I'm sorry you have something that would qualify you. I have no hope that Virginia will ever get medical marijuana but I sure could use it. Living in pain sucks.

20. As far as I can tell
Here in CO, the reason the doctor would prescribe MM is between you and your doctor. I do not believe the state has any list of conditions you have to fall under. I've seen a good number of dispensaries that have doctors on staff to help you :D Sorry about your pain!

2. If Obama has his way, you will be out of a job in that field before you even
settle into it. This Administration is hitting the medical marijuana big time, to shut it down.

15. I do not know
I suppose they could be going after it in other states but I have only heard of them doing it in CA. I do not know what the reason is.

29. You need only know
that it is 'Obama's fault'. :eyes:

Not thrilled with the news myself, but some are just so damn transparent.

I know that I don't always chime in, but I've been loosely following your travailles. FWIW, I've applied for jobs as a dishwasher and been turned down. There's nothing worse than competing with 17 y/o kids for jobs, but that's the reality we're in now. My handful of clients is barely enough to get by, but I'm very lucky about how I've structured my life. I kind of fell into an interesting situation that's provided me with an opportunity to make other projects work.

Some are actually coming along.

Keep faith. So long as you have an internet connection, or even a word processing application, you have hope.

It's an interesting world we live in right now.

Bonne chance mon ami.

the nitwits I have to deal with in India, Brazil, Pakistan - the quality just is not there - standards have sunk VERY low :( (example: I swear I will HANG myself if I have to explain to a so-called offshore programmer one more time what a USER CODE is. :o

It is tough to even get an interview though and when I do, I am up against a lot of other well qualified people. There are a lot of good IT people out of work.

28. "Simulated" experience might have been...
...something like the crappy low-budget testing program I just had to use when applying for a temp job. (ProClick -- or something like that.) I'm sure the assholes who write the "testing" software also write "training" programs.

It simulates an Office application...except that you can't scroll, and the only way to get a "right" answer is to perform the task through the use of menus...instead of, say, keyboard commands or using the on-screen margin adjuster.

They apparently hire people to do the Larry Craig thing, and instead of having sex with them, you hand them a brochure on safe sex.

I think there is certainly enough evidence to warrant a lot more research. On a personal level, I think it should be legal and regulated like alcohol or tobacco.

19. I would take that
They did not list exactly what the duties were, just what they were looking for in an applicant but I expect that is at least part of the job. They also did not list what the pay was but $20 per hour would be $20 per hour more then I make now :D I'd take it in a heartbeat.

23. Likewise
I apply for anything and everything.

Coming out of school, I thought I was hot shit and entitled to 60K. Maddeningly, a few of supremely unqualified classmates (read:fuck ups) actually scored these jobs.

I work part time doing whatever I can while I look for work in my field. I'll be damned if anyone can ever (accurately) call me lazy, and I'll just save money and hustle till I get going.
