Interested in the occupy movement, no close action ... an option |
|
Some of us found Global Livestream (from the occupy wall street actions) before the actions on the Brooklyn Bridge. Since then a whole lot of occupy groups have sprouted up.
Some have live-streams with chat, and others don't. I highly recommend on big days (like today into tomorrow) the livefeed from NYC occupy walls street (ows) at livestream.com/globalrevolution. To follow the unfolding events.
During non big event moments viewing that livestream is non interactive. Either the livestreams are off and they are showing earlier taped recordings or other videos, or the live stream is so active that it moves too fast for conversation.
Let me introduce one red-state city in a red to purple state's occupation that only started on Saturday. From day one Occupy Indy (Indianapolis) had learned form the OWS livestream - and tended to it. A few days of choppy feed as they got the technology right. Now pretty constant. What is unique is the livestream chat is active. Except for the opening action (1000 + participants) the chat group on livestream has equaled the size of the on-sight group (on the Indiana State House grounds).
Because Occupy Indy has nurtured its live stream and it is much more interactive than most of the other occupation livestreams (slower moving than the OWS live stream, and more interactive between folks on the ground and the livestream chat) it has become a place where voices from across Indiana - and across the country and world (livestream participants come from Ireland, Australia, Germany, Czechoslovakia, New Zealand and more) are heard. The Livestream community has even been included in the general assembly (not just by watching - but by asking for input.)
So I invite you to check and participate in this growing little action of direct democracy in Indianapolis. www.livestream.com/occupyindy. When it goes down it is usually brief - if you experience that - please try a little later.
I probably shouldn't be promoting this at night, as the Indy occupation that stays has to "stay vertical" (standing) and moving (that is they are not supposed to be able to sleep on the state capital grounds). Sometimes they do shifts with cars parked near by for sleeping spaces. So at night they can be a little sleepless silly. But is an interesting view to watch this movement grow authentically.
If you see this and have any interest yourself in glimpsing into one of the occupations where they are interested in filling the viewers into what is happening, or think it is worth letting other DUers see this, please kick til morning - so some Duers with interest can check it out.
Thanks - and maybe I will see you on the occupyindy livestream www.livestream.com/occupyindy
Peace,
salin

5. Yea Du and Yea OccupyIndy... |
|
since posting this the numbers started increasing. Broken the records already. Thinking some of you have joined us (and thank you!) Our top was 72 viewers at a single time now over 80. This is only day 5 - and Indy is still a relatively red city. Woohoo and thanks!
The occupants, from day 1, have been very jazzed by the viewers. Btw while I will have to check out soon (but will be on way early in the am) I am sannl/sanni on the livestream. If you visit and we cross paths give me a shout out. And thanks for your support of OIndy!

6. since posting this - went from 52 active viewers/participants to nearly 100. |
|
still interactive. Many names are familiar but also many new names. Don't presume that the additional 40 are Duers - but am pretty sure that some of the spike in numbers are from this cool DU community.
Thanks for the encouragement.
on livestream I am sannL or sannI - if you drop by please say hello.
Have to sign off for the night - the impact on the Indy moral in just the last hour has been big (the live streamer calls out to the 30-40 occupying - not sleeping - and there are big woots in response). Thanks to those who drop in, and thanks to those kicking this til the morning so other Duers might read this and drop in.
Peace and Thanks
