Limbaugh's support is essential for any GOP candidate. Recently Limbaugh said Romney wasn't conservative enough but like with McCain, that will not stop Limbaugh from supporting Romney.

Right up until the friday before the GOP convention he would not get behind McCain- hated him. So they picked Palin to be the bride of Limbaugh, and announced her as the VP choice minutes before he opened that friday show. He used Palin as the excuse to completely contradict his previous opposition to McCain and get behind him.

McCain wanted Lieberman or Pawlenty but Limbaugh wouldn't have gone for that. Without Limbaugh the GOP convention would have been a total disaster.

The importance of getting Limbaugh on, as point man for the most important tool in the GOP's media domination, is why we we got into the absurd situation where someone like Palin even got close to the White House.

Limbaugh is the most important man/thing in the Republican Party, the true godfather and 'professor' to the Tea Party. The talk radio monopoly and the think tanks that feed it and him, as point man for that giant unchallenged soapbox, are why we're in this mess. And its power to give us the Tea Party, short circuit democratic feedback mechanisms, and obstruct all reforms including those inspired by the OWS protests, will depend on RW radio and team Limbaugh continuing to get a free speech free ride from liberals.

For a few suggestions on what to do about talk radio see: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x2112628

1. If Romney's the nominee, the #2 will have to be Bachmann or Huck. A fundie nutjob
is what will be needed to balance the ticket.

3. Rush is a big reason for the disarray of the Republican Party.
You have a hack, an entertainer, choosing the candidates.

5. No one could be radical enough to suit that bloated POS.
His ego wouldn't allow it.

6. Christie.
Although I would not call the Drugster's support essential, or even desired. I think you're giving this clown way too much credit: after all, McCain/Palin lost.

The 2012 election is going to be determined by the vast middle, a voting bloc larger than anyone realizes.

11. limbaugh's support is essential for them to be competitive, mostly
because he is part of the republican talk radio whole. he leads it and it is the most important part of their media machine. they need it to sell their lies. they can't do that with fox, some papers, and blogs, and no radio. won't work.

much of what the GOP clowns say is only acceptable and 'credible' because it has already or will be pounded into the earholes of 50 mil a week.

the GOP brains know that. they know whoever they get will have a much better chance with limbaugh making excuses for him, and they know if limbaugh is attacking their candidate he has no chance.

8. I agree
Marco Rubio.

But want a Sarah Palin for Romney?

How about Susanna Martinez, Governor of New Mexico. She looks like a pretty good fit for Romney.
