'Occupy Brooklyn' Coming to Grand Army Plaza On Saturday
True to the "occupy everything" ethos of the Zuccotti protesters, an offshoot of Occupy Wall Street is coming to Brooklyn. This Saturday, Occupy Brooklyn will hold a rally at Grand Army Plaza. There's also a planning meeting tomorrow night at 7 p.m. at the Commons Brooklyn; according to the invite page, "We are trying to expand Occupy Wall St. into the other boroughs because with all the support we're outgrowing Liberty Plaza in Manhattan." (Truer words have never been spoken -- have you seen Zuccotti Park during the day lately?)

The shadowy new group is hard to pin down. It's unclear how many people and exactly who will be occupying Brooklyn (though an organizer told the Brooklyn Paper that "There are an incredible amount of people here who want to get involved"), or what exactly they intend to do while they're over there. But they've left no social media stone unturned, with three Twitter accounts, a Facebook page, and a blog.

The Grand Army Plaza rally is planned for 11 a.m. on Saturday. It doesn't look as though the protesters are actually trying to occupy the space, though we're waiting to hear back from the organizers as to what they're really planning on doing. Next up: Occupy Staten Island! Occupy Queens! Occupy the Bronx! (That one's kind of real.)
