Anita Perry Blames Obama For Her Son Quitting His Job
Edited on Fri Oct-14-11 01:42 PM by erpowers
Seriously, I am not joking. Another Republican has said something stupid about unemployment. It is being reported by the CNN Political Ticker that Anita Perry, the wife of Republican Presidential candidate Rick Perry, said it was President Obama's fault that her son, Griffin, "resigned" from his job. This was Mrs. Perry's attempt to show that she understood the plight of the unemployed. Mrs. Perry said she understood what the unemployed of America were going through in that her son was forced to resign his post in order to help with is dad's campaign.

According to the story, Mrs. Perry was responding to a person who had previously held a job that paid them more than $100,000 per year, but was now working a job that paid $12 per hour. In response to the person's story Mrs. Perry stated, "My son had to resign his job because of federal regulations that Washington has put on us". Later, Mrs. Perry said,"He resigned his job two weeks ago because he can't go out and campaign with his father because of SEC regulations" and "He has a wife... he's trying to start a business. So I can empathize." Finally, Mrs. Perry said, "My son lost his job because of this administration".

My first responses to this story was "are you kidding me" and "these people are crazy". Mrs. Perry's son did not lose his job because of this administration. Unlike many of America's unemployed her son was not fired or laid-off. Her son willingly chose to quit his job in order to work with his dad's campaign. Many people do that during every election cycle. Before or after the election cycle they will take a particular job, but when the election cycle comes back around they will quit that job in order to work on a campaign. That is not the same as working a job you plan to keep and then losing that job.

5. it sounds like it's either her son's fault for leaving his job to work on his dad's campaign
or his dad's fault for not stopping him from doing it. what parent would let their kid quit their job to help them when it might put them in peril. Which I doubt because as governor rick perry I have no doubt can get his kid a job. No, I don't think they have the faintest fucking clue what it's like for the rest of us out here. First of all, even if you hate your job you aren't going to quit it in this environment if you are one of the 99%. No friggin way. Only someone who doesn't have to worry about that stuff would do something like that.

8. It's Obama's fault because he won't quit and hand the job to
Perry, therefore, Perry has to campaign and his son has to help him, therefore it's Obama's fault.
He's "trying to start a business" and was forced to "resign" because of SEC regulations? What the Hell does that mean?

14. HaHa!
My guess is Perry's brain trust decided to unleash the Anita because she would be an awesome ambassador for Goodhair. Of course, as we in Texas know, Anita Perry is about as warm is a bag of ice and as socially adept as her husband.

15. What is this I don't even...
:wtf:

Lemme see if I can follow this trail...

...Mrs. Perry said she understood what the unemployed of America were going through in that her son was forced to resign his post in order to help with is dad's campaign.

Oh, I get it. Her son CHOSE to quit his lucrative job to help his dad run for President.

If Daddy hadn't wanted to run for President, then Sonny could have kept his $100K+ per year job without getting in trouble from the SEC.

Therefore it's Obama's (Daddy's opponent) fault that he had to quit his job....

Nope, still doesn't compute...

It is ludicrous when people with no clue (and no compassion) try to patronize 'empathize' with 'the little people'...

"He resigned his job two weeks ago... "...he's trying to start a business."

Which is it lady? Either he quit his job voluntarily so he could brush lint of daddy's lapels, or, he put his own business on "hold" (probably claiming lost capital) to brush the lint off of daddy's donors.

The "bootstraps" party, that insists that the only reason people are poor is because they are lazy and don't work hard, is claiming that this guy who quit his job is somehow to be pitied?

He quit his damn JOB! There was an obvious solution - stay employed and don't campaign for your father if you don't want to be unemployed. Losing your job is one thing, but this ass quit his job and now wants to whine about it? I have no pity.

Judging from the comments at the end of the page, there isn't a ONE of them in support of such an idiotic statement - they all said the same thing - he quit his job and made his own choice. She might as well have just said "I burned my toast this morning and ran out of toilet paper, it's all Obama's fault!"

Yeah, they want the GOVERNMENT to attack Iran because of an amateur 'set-up' no less, all the while they don't want the same government they campaign to govern to even exist to begin with.

Guess it's what they mean by American Exceptionallism...

Their entire reasoning never even makes any sense to begin with! :wtf:

20. What kind of job did he have that he couldn't work
Edited on Fri Oct-14-11 03:29 PM by EC
on an election champaign that the SEC would have a say about it? He must have been working for a business that Daddy owns and didn't want to report or something. Anyway, he quit, he didn't LOSE A JOB, he quit. That was his choice. And any regulations the SEC had were there long before Obama since there have been no campaign law changes that I recall during the last 3 years except Citizen's United.

On edit: Wait a minute, was he a lobbyist by chance? There may be some regs from the SEC that if he's a lobbyist he can't work on the campaign...FOR A REASON...

24. There's a new Securities and Exchange Commission regulation...
passed last year, that limits the political activities of "investment advisors." Perry Jr. worked, according to the article, at Deutsche Bank--probably selling stocks, which he SHOULDN'T be able to do as the employee of a bank because banks should not be able to sell securities. Banks selling securities fucked the economy in 1920 and they did it again in 2008. Didn't the repukes ever hear the fable about the rabbit who took the snake across the river?

The only thing I can think of to suggest he's "starting his own business" is DB investment advisors are classified as independent contractors, hence the comments from his mom.

As to EC's comment about him being a lobbyist--if he was one of those, the Federal Elections Commission rather than the Securities and Exchange Commission would be controlling.

30. They should trust in God's plan. Losing his stockbroker seat or whatever to regs
is part of God's plan and should be accepted with the understanding that they do not know why God wants this now but is for the best. They should pray.
They should know that there is a bigger picture to life than losing a SEC regulated position right now.
Maybe it is needed to get daddy elected and should not judge and scorn others for their fate when it really in God's hands. God chose to have this administration be here right now at this moment in time for a reason.
We may not know why but we have to accept it right?
Hope God reaches their heart and imparts this wisdom. Let us all pray they understand that they cant control God's plan or know why it is being done this way...or dry up in a big Texas dust bowl and blow away!!!
