Personally I didn't see anything violent except the police. The absolute minimum of force necessary to stop the police was used, and in fact not even that. And it wasn't done fast enough.

I would not have been unhappy if the cop with the stick had died. Justice would have been served.

But politically it's not a sensible technique, unless you really do have the numerical majority to outweigh their superior armaments.
