Members of local unions, Occupy demonstrators combine efforts (Huntington WV Herald-Dispatch)

HUNTINGTON -- Members of three unions found support two blocks away when they converged in front of Huntington City Hall in a rally for jobs Friday.

The Good Jobs Now rally, which was made up of members of International Association of Firefighters Local 289, Service Employees International Union Local 1199 and Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (R.W.D.S.U.), was met with open arms by Occupy Huntington demonstrators, which have been stationed in front of the Chase Bank building on the corner of 5th Avenue and 10th Street for one week.

Organizers of both demonstrations were in touch earlier in the week and decided to combine their efforts Friday.

At 4 p.m. about 100 people stood on the corner of 5th Avenue and 10th Street. Some people were union members, others were Occupy Huntington demonstrators, but Barry Dillon, who has been part of the Occupy movement since its inception, said they all were there for the same reason ...
