Drone strikes in support of a Yemeni despot
Edited on Sat Oct-15-11 07:48 AM by MadHound
"An American drone strike in southern Yemen has killed seven al-Qaida-linked militants, including the media chief for the group's Yemeni branch and the son of a prominent U.S.-born cleric slain in a similar attack last month, government officials and tribal elders said Saturday."

Well, here we are again, acting as judge, jury and executioner in a land not our own. Violating a nation's sovereignty, conducting a war without the benefit of actually declaring war.

And we're doing all this killing, dealing out all this death in support of *this* ruler!
"In the capital, meanwhile, forces loyal to embattled President Ali Abdullah Saleh opened fire on tens of thousands of protesters, killing at least nine and wounding scores, according to medical officials and witnesses."

No wonder we're reviled around the world. We commit acts of war in support of despots who kill their own citizens.

1. Always been this way. They are despots when they aren't killing their people for us.
When they are they are a "friend in need", we need to give them all the killing equipment we can send.

5. The usual "suspects"... I take that to mean that we were not sure.
"Security officials said the strike that killed them was one of five carried out over night by an American drones on SUSPECTED al-Qaida positions in Shabwa and the neighboring province of Abyan in Yemen's largely lawless south." ...emphasis mine...

There we go again obliterating people that we are suspicious of. How decent of us.
