1. Yes
because he's the official spokesman for GEM$NBComcast's big bosses or why else is he still allowed to spew so much backward, racist reactionary BS.

11. She calls him "Uncle Pat".
As if he were some kindly old curmudgeon.

Makes me want to:puke:

16. Yes but she still will put him in his place and not allow him to talk over her
She's one of the few I've seen actually stand up to him and not allow him to spew nonsense without some sort of meaningful retort.

3. Yeah, they all seem to love him and act as if he's some kind of wise man - it's absurd.

4. Buchanan is such a treacly smarmy asshole and racist.
It's hard to understand the kowtowing, especially by Rachel. That's
partly what turned me off her show.

6. Buchanan has always been pushed by extreme RW -- GE, for instance ....
and has gotten money from CIA --

Not accidental that he's been on the scene all these years!

8. If they want to continue to work for MSNBC ... presume they do -- ????
This isn't about Buchanan, really -- it's about the long time push to get

his sexist, racist, homophobic ideas into MSM -- first, with Crossfire.

He's long been supported by GE -- and has also gotten money from CIA.

His "success" is not accidental!

9. Tackle him?
If I was sitting next to him and he started spewing his tired bigoted nonsense I'd certainly tackle him.....but maybe that's why I'm not on TV ?

10. Rachel Maddow doesn't
I don't recall seeing him on her show since he said, "White men were 100% of the people that wrote the Constitution, 100% of the people that signed the Declaration of Independence, 100% of the people who died at Gettysburg and Vicksburg, probably close to 100% of the people who died at Normandy. This has been a country built basically by white folks, who were 90% of the nation in 1960 when I was growing up and the other 10% were African-Americans who had been discriminated against."

12. Nah. They're just following orders from their bosses
"Pat is a revered and respected elder who everyone listens to in hopes of catching his wise utterances. Treat him accordingly." or some such blather.

14. I see him as their resident conservative idiot. He does a good job.
He gives MSNBC cover as bipartisan. And idiot though he be, his resume is unassailable, aid to 4 or 5 presidents, and a candidate himself.

What conservative spokesperson could MSNBC get that would make DUers happy?

Michael Steele is another good acquisition for them.

15. At one time, George F. Will, Pat Buchanan, and Gore Vidal were regular
commentators on the ABC Sunday morning news program.

After a few months, Gore Vidal was let go, because, as they said, he was "too outrageous."

Vidal's comment was, "They're keeping Pat Buchanan, and I'M too outrageous?"

Yup. It's OK to spew garbage if you're a rightie, but it's not OK to make witty criticisms if you're a leftie.

That's the memo that has come down from on high.
