It's like that the 53 Percenters feel that they deserve to be treated like shit
And why not?

Wishful thinking tells them that they could turn the tables on the rich someday… Which is nothing more than a crazy pipe dream, right?

Don't they know that most of the 1% were already BORN on HOME PLATE and sharing is an anathema to them?!?

Poor, deluded fools.

1. Actually
I don't think that the majority of that 53% group want to let the rich keep getting tax breaks. I think the majority of that group "want" the rich to pay more. Polls show the vast majority of American do want the rich to pay more. What I think is those who started this group are either GOP shills, or some tea party nuts who are mad that the OWS people are taking away their limelight! I have even heard people from local tea party groups say wall street needs to be fixed, and that the rich and corporations should be paying more.

The ones that spew the BS about NOT wanting the rich, or corporations to be taxed more, seem to be the ones getting the MONEY from the likes of the KOCH brothers and other right wing groups. The leadership of the tea party seems to be making a lot of money to say the things the corporations want them so say. If the facts were known, it's probably only 20% or less of the 53% group that are siding with the rich and the corporations, and they are simply the ones who listen to Rush, and Beck on a daily basis!

The other thing is that some may not have to pay income tax to the IRS, but they pay all kinds of other taxes. What I fail to hear from those who complain about the poor not paying taxes, is the anger at big corporations and rich individuals who are able to work the system and not pay any federal taxes. Why aren't the mad about them getting away with not paying?

7. Yup.
It never ceases to amaze me how these tools will keep carrying water for the very people who have been robbing them blind for decades, all because they think things like OWS have something to do with political parties. Bunch of brain-washed, myopic fools.

14. Actually
I think the majority of that 53% group DO want to let the rich keep getting tax breaks...because the guys who are actually running it are Erick Erickson from RedState.org, and Josh Trevino from the Texas Public Policy Foundation.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erick_Erickson

http://www.wnyc.org/articles/its-free-country/2011/oct/14/53-percent-take-99-percent/

Apparently the first post on the 53-percent blog is Erick Erickson holding up a sign stating he "works three jobs." Turns out the three jobs are blogging, appearing on CNN and being a low-rent Rush Limbaugh.

My recommendation is, someone with two monitors and more patience than I have should go through the 53-percent and 99-percent blogs, and compare the pictures. My best guess is, a hell of a lot of those 53-percent pictures started out life on the 99-percent blog.

5. Hey, when you've been in an abusive relationship, it "becomes"
your fault for not being born rich. It is your fault you do not buy health insurance your employer has but does not offer to their employees. it is your fault you are pregnant and lost your job with no benefits. Just work hard, turn in the employees who are talking "unionizing" and you'll succeed.

The 53% actually think the 1% will allow them access to their world! Good luck with that.

15. Or...
it's your fault for not spending 60 percent of your income to buy the health insurance your employer offers, even though you wouldn't be able to use the insurance if you had it because you couldn't afford the copays and deductibles.

10. True.
One of my Facebook friends posted a 53% photo the other day and we were chatting about it. This poor woman posts all these awful things that have happened to her and how she never, never asked for help or expected to receive any. It is like she gets some perverse pleasure in being abused repeatedly and being able to take it. I felt like she needed therapy more than political chat, so I let the convo go.

8. That first 53% turned out to be an employee of CNN who buys $300,000 houses

As usual it's a lie. They're busy catapulting the propaganda.

http://thinkprogress.org/special/2011/10/11/304642/erickson-whines-53-percent/

(snip)
CNN’s Erick Erickson helped start the “We Are The 53%” website. The website, a parody of the popular We Are The 99 Percent Tumblr, features Americans posting messages about how they work hard and do not complain about diminishing living standards or the phenomenon that a tiny segment of the population is slowly accumulating most of the nation’s wealth.

Erickson’s message is a scribbled rant that reads:

I work 3 jobs./I have a house I can’t sell./My family insurance costs are outrageous./But I don’t blame Wall Street./Suck it up you whiners./I am the 53% subsidizing you so you can hang out on Wall Street and complain.

The three jobs Erickson wants you to believe he scrapes by on include occasional paid opinion blogging at RedState.com, a lucrative television contract with CNN, and a radio gig that paid the previous host $165,183 a year (Herman Cain’s financial disclosures show he was paid this amount before Erickson took over his spot). The house Erickson can’t sell? Bibb County, Georgia records reveal that Erickson just bought a new $374,900 house in February of this year, and owns another that, according to an estimate by the website Zillow, might be worth slightly less than the amount he paid for it in 2001. And its likely that Erickson’s CNN job alone provides him with a personal driver and covered travel expenses when he needs to appear on the show.

Moreover, when Erickson says he doesn’t blame Wall Street, who could be surprised? Erickson should be grateful to big corporations since they sponsor his blog and provide him with content:

11. The other two look like they're photoshops
The fact that nearly 80% of the country is for higher taxes on the rich is not going away, no matter how much wallpaper they try to use.

Odd that these tactics worked once...like the "Welfare Queen" that never existed.

9. I love how they brag about having nothing
You could take one of those 53%er signs and change the number to 99% and it would still work. How do they not see that?

12. It seems really strange to me that they're not even pushing the American dream
None of these statements seem to be, "I work hard and make a good income. I have a house in the suburbs and a loving wife and two-and-a-half adorable children and a dog. And if you work hard too, you could be just like me"

Instead, it's "I've been fucked in the ass all my life and please sir may I have another."

Does that make any sense to anyone?

As I suggested when this stuff first surfaced, the only plausible explanation I can think of is that whoever's writing these is eaten up with anger and resentment and is terrified of what might happen if they ever let their real feelings come out.

Of course, it's also possible that this is entirely a propaganda operation by the agents of the 1% who know they can no longer deliver on the American Dream and are trying instead to make people feel proud of how masochistic they can be.

I'm not sure which interpretation is creepier.

These Log Cabin groups absolutely love to support people who would as soon see them dead - and they've had years of practice at this.

16. I think that it is part of a culture that has always existed in the U.S.
While being fiercely independent no matter what hardships are thrown you is in some ways admirable and can lead to the accomplishment of many things, it can cause a lot of harm too. One of my grandparents was raised this way and all his children and some of his grandchildren suffer from this. It's hard to live with these as your highest values, especially when not everyone is playing this game. Many people blame the poor who are on assistance for not playing when they should be blaming the rich, most of who aren't playing either. Maybe when these values are causing harm to yourself, your children ,and your community, it is time to admit these aren't good values. When you die trying, you didn't accomplish anything. It is is better to live another day.
