NEW YORK (AP) — Demonstrators from the Occupy Wall Street encampment marched again in New York City on Saturday, tromping through the streets of the financial district to protest the role that big banks played in the nation's financial crisis. And marchers throughout the country emulated them in protests from Boston to Jackson, Miss.

As many as 1,000 protesters in Manhattan paraded to a Chase bank branch, banging drums, blowing horns and carrying signs decrying corporate greed.

"Banks got bailed out. We got sold out," the crowd chanted.

5. Interesting editorial point:
..."to protest the role that big banks played"

Only yesterday, that clause would have read "to protest the role that they say big banks have played."

It's subtle. It may be meaningless. But it's noticeable.

goes with the "protests go global" headline, but gives it the "violence" emphasis with it's accompanying lead photo.

There's a gallery there, but you have to scroll through to see even one pic of the stunningly massive crowds in Spain. (Lots of pics of Rome mayhem and police action/confrontation.)

Occupy Wall Street protests go global
By Karla Adam, Saturday, October 15, 3:58 PM

LONDON — Linking up with the Occupy Wall Street protests that began in New York, tens of thousands of people around the world took to the streets Saturday to reiterate their anger at the global financial system, corporate greed and government cutbacks.

Rallies were held in more than 900 cities in Europe, Africa and Asia, as well as in the United States, with some of the largest occurring in Europe. The demonstration in Rome turned violent, but crowds elsewhere were largely peaceful.
