I caught Glenn Beck whining and ranting to Billo on Fox last night. Apparently all the OWS protesters are Marxists, communists, and the whole OWS movement is designed by Barack Obama, who is goes without saying is a Marxist as well.

They are in code red freakout that the obvious common interests and common purposes between us and our republican or apolitical right leaning neighbors will bring us together into the streets, against them. Campaign finance reform especially holds the potential to cause an earthquake.

On our Honolulu protest FB posts and twitter posts, winger shills spam the daylights out of people who stand up for the march. They are tripping!

Common cause is where it is at.

6. The OWS people already have, to a certain degree
I said a couple of weeks ago that I found more than a few of them to be remarkably conservative.

This is the mainstream. It's the exact center, where all the polls say the center is, not a bunch of pundits and paid off politicians.

And they're sick of getting screwed without getting kissed.

35. That's because
"bipartisanship" is a disaster when both parties are corrupt. They don't need to serve us, as long as the partisan propaganda machines are working full time to keep us divided while they move the corporate agenda forward.

12. YES!!! Once we have unity on major issues, their gig is OVER.
And they KNOW it. We are pulling back the curtain on their bullshit and they can't stop it now.

I've always said this is not a right/left thing. Rather, the wedge constantly driven between right and left with social issues, and the vitriol it generates is all a magnificent distraction. Wake up everyone you know! It's an UP/DOWN thing.

The 1% against the 99%. If the 99% is awake, and working in common cause, the 1% cannot win. Period.

16. both gop & dem forums enforce dogma purity to prevent common cause in working class majority
Edited on Sun Oct-16-11 08:02 AM by jowsybart
both the dem and gop top hierarchy make sure that dem and gop activists are not able to find common cause. One way they do this is by enforcing dogma/doctrine purity on internet forums. if you go on a gop or dem internet forum and try to say that the other side may have a good point on a particular issue, you will be banned.

This way the base cannot unite against the rich. Keeping us divided is how they do it, and one way of doing that is making sure that the dem chocolate does not get smeared with GOP peanut butter and vice versa.

21. Absolutely Agree!
When The Working Class & The Poor realize WE have more in common with each other
than we have in common with the RICH Ruling Class Politicians of BOTH Parties,
WE will have "CHANGE".

Our neighbors in South/Central America have given us the Blue Print.
What they have accomplished are nothing less than near Bloodless Revolutions.

"The worst enemy of humanity is U.S. capitalism. That is what provokes uprisings like our own, a rebellion against a system, against a neoliberal model, which is the representation of a savage capitalism. If the entire world doesn't acknowledge this reality, that nation states are not providing even minimally for health, education and nourishment, then each day the most fundamental human rights are being violated."
----Bolivian Reform President Evo Morales

FDR said much the same thing in 1944 with his Economic Bill of Rights,
but FDR and THAT "Democratic Party" are long dead.
However, it might be possible to resurrect the old Democratic party from the remnants in the Progressive Caucus.

Our neighbors in Latin America DO have one advantage we don't have in the USA.
They have Fair, Open, Transparent, Verifiable, Internationally Monitored Elections.
We don't have that in the USA,
and neither dominant Political party is interested ig giving that to us,
so we WILL have to deal with that first.

VIVA Democracy!
Spread the WORD.
Find Common Cause.

In the time it takes the wingers to change their underwear.

Bipartisanship in political activism has the same effect that it has in politics.

It scrambles the message, and neutralizes the effectiveness of the group.

Speaking as one who's been at #OccupyDenver, we do have tea-partiers there, united with us liberals.

That's what the power-elites fear the most. They want to divide us, and we've finally managed to get a movement that unites us.

36. K & R for common cause
I've been preaching this to anyone who will listen for years now. Glad to see it finally beginning to happen.

We really can take our country back if we unite against the oligarchy. But there's no way the left can do so without help from the others who are also victims of corporate exploitation.

I don't know how this whole issue fits with Democratic Underground, seems like it falls outside of the site's original directive, which was all about rebooting the Democratic Party. I'd welcome changing DU to be able to advocate for bottom vs. top rather than just for Dem verses Repub. The reason I see such a change needed is that sometimes the corporatists we need to oppose are Dems (though there is pretty much never a Repub that deserves support over a Dem).

And hey mods, how about letting this post ride rather than deleting it, we should be allowed to discuss this here. Thanks.

Also thanks for the OP, it is right on.

38. Glenn Beck's popularity is tanking...
...and I think Beck is taking a dive because many of the previously fooled--are waking up.

They're realizing that Glen "My hair is on fire every day" Beck is a snake-oil salesman who
is full of crap. There will always be a certain percentage of Beck's audience that is in
the tank--no matter what bullshit he says. They're a lost cause. Forgettaboutem.

However, this movement is peeling off the people who were once fooled and are waking up.

Beck lost his television show and is solely on radio now. His schtick is being terrified
and making all kinds of ridiculous assertions. Have you listened to his circular, twisted
logic? "Bill Ayers supports OWS! Bill Ayers is a violent criminal! The entire OWS
movement is funded by and supported by these Marxists...these violent Marxists! And Obama
is a Marxist, as we all know!! And it all started with Woodrow Wilson!"

Seriously. It's like political alphabet soup. Beck is ridiculous.

Look at the popularity and approval numbers of OWS--greater than Obama's numbers, greater than
the tea-party's numbers, greater than Congress's approval numbers.

Won't be long now...

45. I'm all for common cause.
I guess that is obvious.

Still anchored in progressive values, but I see the importance of reaching out. We've been divided and conquered, and it doesn't serve us.

If you think the Dems on the continent are DINOS wait till you get a load of the Hawaii lege. Not our Senators, esp. Senator Akaka, but in our lege, pretty much everybody runs with a 'D' after their name, or they will lose.

We have some work to do to clarify what that 'D' means to the people. Had to censure someone for campaigning against the party. In that sense, because he stepped on us, there is a line that shouldn't be crossed, party-wise.

Anyway, aloha, peace.
