John Boehner as Speaker of the House...anybody worried?
Given all the rhetoric about "second amendment solutions", and with John Boehner now 3rd in line to the Presidency...what are the chances that we'll see an escalation in violence from the far-right? Personally, I have faith in our Secret Service to protect our leaders, but doesn't mean that nutjobs won't try.

Most likely they have no idea about how stuff like that works.

20. When Reagan was shot, Haig thought he was next in line after the VP
Let's tell the Tea Partiers that the order is, as Haig thought, President - Vice President - Secretary of State. If they think Hillary's next in line, they'll be less enthused about their "Second Amendment remedies".

15. Thank you! This shows his inability to make good decisions.
There is no excuse for him not being there.

14. Indeed!
I really don't get Democratic criticism of Nancy Pelosi. She delivered her caucus on virtually everything she was asked to deliver on. To the extent Congress was unable to get certain things done, the fault lies with the Blue Dog Democratic members of the Senate, and with a President who frequently left Nancy Pelosi twisting in the wind after she had delivered her caucus' votes.

9. Only if orange-boehner causes rightwinger males
To begin breaking down and start sobbing/sniveling in public when they see a Chinese-made US flag in front of a store, flapping in the breeze, or hear something patriotic like for example, our National Anthem being played before a baseball or football game on demo big-screen TVs at Wal*Mart or Sam's Club....Will their wives and/or gfs need to bring extra hankies along in their purses, so they can blow their noses afterward???

13. Shaking with both fear and laughter.
Well, mostly fear I suppose. He's either gonna get an A or a big fat F, but my money's on the latter.

Agent Orange is going to have to step up and actually work now. Since he apparently can't go past about 5:30 without booze, he'll never stand the strain of being Speaker. He's already failed miserably in the last week or two.

I really don't think he's up to the job. He's a complete mess. He can't speak in public without blubbering, and that will quickly wear thin with the media and the public. Late night TV hosts and comedy writers must be licking their chops right about now.

Lastly, the teabagger movement will eat him alive if he doesn't get the votes lined up to kill any vote on raising the debt ceiling. He's totally screwed either way.

Yeah, it's a scary thing, but I'm confident in his incompetence. Six months from now I'll bet he's in the political toilet. If I'm wrong, then we'll really be in deep shit.

16. Rollling Stone's article on his was pretty good.
Taibbi basically painted him as a buffoon. Wonder if he'll be handing out checks on the House floor again?

Matt Taibbi: The Crying Shame of John Boehner

He's a lazy, double-talking shill for corporate interests. So how's he going to fare with the Tea Party?

John Boehner is the ultimate Beltway hack, a man whose unmatched and self-serving skill at political survival has made him, after two decades in Washington, the hairy blue mold on the American congressional sandwich. The biographer who somewhere down the line tackles the question of Boehner's legacy will do well to simply throw out any references to party affiliation, because the thing that has made Boehner who he is — the thing that has finally lifted him to the apex of legislative power in America — has almost nothing to do with his being a Republican.
