52 of the 53% are in the 99% |
|
So why are they against themselves? Why are they fighting for the 1%?
:wtf:

1. Because they aren't in the bottom 47. All the "middle class" shit has always been thus. |

2. Huh? So you think anyone over 47% isn't for this movement? |
|
My point was that they don't even get that they are part of the 99% and that they are full of shit. And if they really feel the way they are saying they do and think that we are whiners then they are stupid since they are fighting against they're own interests.
I have a feeling I'm in that 53%, though I don't know what the cutoffs are for any of those percentiles, and I marched to and occupied Times Square today. I'm sure a lot of people that support this movement are 53%ers. Real ones.

7. The point is that many people make themselves feel "better than" |
|
by associating themselves with the upper and denigrating the lower. So yes, many people in the middle class, though they are much closer to being than they are to being the top 1% (i.e., if they lost job and are 55 so will probably not be able to find another one -- they will go through their savings and become poor), they blame the poor for their station in life and consider themselves to be closer to the top than the bottom. It makes them feel safer. It's ugly, but that is what people do.

5. Nah. They just want to be in the 1%. |
|
And they think that kissing the collective tails of the 1% will get them there. Truth is, 99% of them are wrong about that and will never make it.
Thus, they vote against their own interests.

8. I believe this refers to the 53% of Americans ... |
|
... who don't understand percentages.
There is a staggering amount of innumeracy in this country.
