8. Don't count on them always being so inept |

A friend in Vietnam Veterans Against the War was involved in organizing major anti-VN War protests on the Mall in D.C. Peace reps held meetings with the police in advance--and it wasn't until years later that my friend learned that more than half the "peace delegates" at those meetings actually were undercover cops from various local, state and federal agencies.

11. I may be mising the allusion... |
|
...but that would be a great 'tell' for identifying the cops.
Of course, if they're breaking into show tunes they must be gay cops. :)

who are singing "This Land" and reciting the 1st amendment. I think I was having a telepathic moment with Josh Harkinson who nearly got his reporter butt arrested here. :) http://www.thenation.com/blog/164009/occupyusa-blog-special-weekend-edition

Was that Toronto or Vancouver? It's been a few years.
Regardless, if you're in a crowd with guys wearing ski masks, get the fuck out and take LOTS of pics from the edges... and pull their masks off, if you can.
None of us would ever wear a mask while protesting for our civil or human rights, those who do are only there to make us look bad.

13. These days, most intercepts done at the ISP or telco switching station |

However, they still use vans to do other sorts of surveillance. The vans are electronically noisy, and can be detected using common, off the shelf radio scanners that have been tweaked to search at the frequencies characteristicly used.

I guess I really am getting old. Rename your wifi? I know what wifi is. I can figure out how to see what wifi is available.
Do they name the wifi account in this post? How do they know it's a police wifi?

Sorry I didn't answer sooner. I went to my daughter and asked her what it meant. Since she's not a tweeter either, she wasn't positive about the tweeting part, but she kind of explained.
This, however, takes it to another level of comprehension.
