It's in the bag. Are you ready for JESUSWEEN?
Halloween was a Very Big Deal back when I was a snot-nosed youth in a tight-sphinctered suburban neighborhood.
Stay out late?
Free candy?
Get away with minor acts of vandalism on the houses of neighbors we didn’t like?
Deal me in.

I’m a lot older now, but I’m still not ready for JesusWeen:

"JesusWeen is a nonprofit organization also known as JesusWin. We are focused on helping people live better lives through the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The dictionary meaning of Ween is to expect, believe or think. We therefore see October 31st as a day to expect a gift of salvation and re-think receiving Jesus".

They will never just shut the hell up will they?

6. My sister, my niece and I went to a crafts fair last weekend where a guy
Edited on Sun Oct-16-11 10:22 AM by Arkansas Granny
was handing out free DVDs which was some sort of sermon proving how satanic Halloween was. After I handed it back to him and told him I wasn't interested, I saw several other people hand their copies back to him, also. I don't know if I gave them the idea or not, but I had no intention of accepting something motivated by sheer ignorance.

I find it strange that they get so upset with one "pagan" holiday when many of the Christian holy days that they revere coincide with other dates that were originally pagan celebrations.

10. And...
the very fact that they are PAGAN holidays means they had nothing to do with Satan, who is a xtian construct.

Christians usurping pagan holidays for their own purposes introduced Satan to all hallows.

11. I had one approach me yesterday in my front yard.
She saw me outside raking leaves and stopped from her door-to-door tract handing duties. She stated the church she belonged to and pushed a tract at me. When I stated that my family already has a "church home" she asked which church. I stated the church and she made a comment about if it's a "real church". (It's mainline.)

Once again she tried to give me a tract while looking me up and down. (I had on yoga pants, flip flops and an old t shirt, hair pulled back. She had on a prairie skirt, long sleeved shirt, Keds, knee high socks, and her hair looked like the Duggar women-home perm with bangs curled up, the smell of White Rain hairspray.) I picked up my rake and started walking towards the porch, without the tract, offering her a "good day". She looked at all the decorations on the porch and stated everyone in my house was going to hell.

Wonder how many others she gave the same line to yesterday while handing out Chick tracts?

19. LOL, you had a visitation from one of the Jehovah's Witnesses.
The girls who used to come around my house on weekends when I was gardening in shorts and tank T were also long-skirted and long-sleeved, but they were always unfailingly polite. Of course, I didn't decorate much. I always just declined their tracts and wished them a nice day and they went on their way (no doubt convinced that I would burn in hell).

33. Nope, not Jehovah's Witness.
They've visited before and have been unfailingly polite, never once telling me I'm going to hell.

This was a Southern Baptist. What I didn't know was that some Southern Baptists really don't like Methodists and my telling her I'm a Methodist was all it took for her to sound off.

18. They hate Halloween because it hasn't been Christianized. Of course, they
are forgetting about All Souls Day and All Saints' Day, but those are (gasp!!!) Catholic traditions and don't count as Christian to the fundies anyway.

24. You could always hang them on string in your garden as bird chasers.
I think these DVDs would be exceptionally scary.

If you hang them in your front yard and they might keep away roving evangelists too.

9. Here'd be something frightening to put on a Pumpkin . . .
. . . THEIR version of Jesus. Bloodbath Reagan Jesus.

You know, the one who steals from the poor, gives to the rich, blows up women and children, makes fun of gay people and threatens armageddon if you don't kiss his ass properly.

with hard core RW fundie parents.

Forced to walk between the lines of an old book that is mostly full of fractured fairy tales while their imagination and creativity are stifled under the constant fear of imminent parental punishment and suffering horrible tortures devised by an evil genius in some mythical hell throughout eternity.

Family values my ass. It's child abuse.

That kind of crazy shit could make a person functionally insane.

The strong kids bust out and get conscious, and the not so strong kids become imagination challenged and get hopelessly emotionally and psychologically crippled for life.
