11. I plan to write a more extensive OP on this tomorrow (after I get some
sleep). For now, I will say that what these folks are doing at Los Angeles' City Hall is breathtaking in its scope and ambition. Tonight, I attended my first-ever committee meeting (pretty much as a silent, ad hoc observer) and General Assembly (again as an observer). I voted in my first election in 1980 (casting a vote proudly for Jimmy Carter) and it's been downhill ever since. I never thought I would see this in my lifetime and it's incredibly moving.

They even have valet parking :)

It is simultaneously exhilarating and frustrating, simultaneously hilarious and deadly serious. I hope you get a chance to get down there soon.

12. Hey you!
:hi:
I want to go SOOO bad!
Tore a ligament in my ankle...
Trying to heal- or I would meet you there,
or we could go together from my place.
It only takes about ten minutes from my place.
Just so frustrating not to be able to walk!!!

Thank goodness for the "Internets."
At least I can watch from the bed.

16. I just published a blog entry about it:
http://ayearatvenicebeach.blogspot.com/2011/10/reflections-on-occupy-los-angeles.html

I don't know if I should also do this as an OP or not.

Any suggestions?

22. ABSOLUTELY! Post it as a thread!
Great writing, do share it on it's own thread with the DU community!

I have been a long time fan of direct democracy.
Clearly our "representative" based democracy has failed- big time.
