Have the Feds reimbursed the States? |
|
It struck me the other day that the US Government probably has not reimbursed the States for all the National Guard equipment consumed/wasted in Iraq or Afghanistan.
I think the party that starts a war should have to fork over its campaign contributions to the Pentagon until the war ends :)

2. Bingo. The National Guard is federally funded. |
|
That's the trade-off the states make for the NG being subject to federalization. Otherwise they'd have to pay for their own militias.

In fact probably tens of billions of dollars, that are legally required for the state to assume the costs of the waves of immigration that have taken place.
I lost count of the exact amount way back in the eighties, when it stood at a total of $ 28 billion dollars that was owed. Every so often, some state official gets a couple of hundred million bucks, but we are always very far behind.
