Woman buys vacuum cleaner, discovers $280,000 worth of methamphetamine, cocaine
A Green Bay woman who bought a refurbished vacuum cleaner at a local store Dec. 25 discovered that it included shrink-wrapped packages containing 2 pounds of crystal methamphetamine and 2.2 pounds of cocaine. The drugs have a street value of about $280,000, the Brown County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

The woman notified Green Bay police. The Brown County Drug Task Force seized the drugs.

She and the store are cooperating in the investigation.

The Sheriff’s Department did not release the name of the woman or the store where she bought the Hoover vacuum, but said the woman will not be charged.

2. Jeeze, nice job of "refurbishing" the vacuum!
Unless someone at the store put it in there, this sort of suggests that the store might be scamming customers about having "refurbished" the equipment!

I don't trust the cops not to make me a suspect, and I don't want whoever lost it to come looking for me.

15. It's possible the store was being used as an unwitting drug mule
A few years ago, someone was smuggling marijuana from Texas to Massachusetts using Home Depot vanities as their transportation device. They had someone at the vanity factory and someone in MA. The person in Texas put the weed in a vanity that was destined for one particular store in MA (a lot of Home Depot's stuff is drop shipped from the manufacturer to the store and never goes to a distribution center), and the person in MA would buy the vanity, take the weed out of it and return the vanity. They only got caught because a contractor bought it and found the pot inside.

We'll probably find the same thing happened here.

20. I bet that was an editor mix up
Instead of "A Green Bay woman who bought a refurbished vacuum cleaner at a local store Dec. 25 discovered that it included shrink-wrapped packages containing 2 pounds of crystal methamphetamine and 2.2 pounds of cocaine."

I bet it should have read: "A Green Bay woman who bought a refurbished vacuum cleaner at a local store. On Dec. 25 she discovered that it included shrink-wrapped packages containing 2 pounds of crystal methamphetamine and 2.2 pounds of cocaine."

23. That makes a lot more sense.
And explains why it's a bad idea to buy your SO a vacuum cleaner for Christmas. They will already have taken care of their most urgent needs themselves.
