4. Some people trust bush and the govt with guns - and that has worked out how? |
|
Wars with tons of people killed by trusting them with weapons?
Who do folks here trust more - me and you, or bush/cheney with weapons?
If you think I and your neighbors are the enemy then you have bought into what they are selling - everyone is the enemy and we need to fear one another.
If you fear me, and want me to fear you - then just tell me YOU should not be trusted with a piece of metal and that bush and his folks should.
The RW can make a case that muslims and commies are out to get people and whip their base into action based on such a fear - and some here want me and others to fear you and everyone else in this country, they will try to tell me the enemy is everyone but me and them, and that the only people that should be trusted are the rich and elected.
I don't now, nor will I ever, but it.

large sporting goods store is the place where most of our hunters go for their gear. The store routinely runs large ads in the paper featuring an assortment of guns (although I can't imagine the critter that must be hunted with some of those big automatic things that carry dozens of bullets). It's okay, though - each ad also features, right next to their logo rifle, the words "John 3:16". Yeah, that makes me feel better...

They have the same sick mentality. Just visit the gungeon.

16. Obama pegged them in 2008 when he said they cling to their bibles and their guns. |
|
I've been to the gungeon. And I ain't going back.
If they were selling something down there, it would be different. But, all they're doing is trying to blow smoke up everyone's ass.

"some of those big automatic things"
None of what you see in your local sporting goods store, is "automatic".
I don't deny that they might hold lots of bullets, but theyre not automatics.

12. What about that Colt .45 Automatic at the bottom? |
|
Edited on Sun Jan-16-11 11:30 PM by needledriver
That's what they call an automatic pistol.
Fires .45 ACP ammunition.
You know, Automatic Colt Pistol ammo.
Some people think that's a big automatic.
Most people who know the difference between a clip and a magazine know the difference between automatic, and fully automatic.

"Some people think that's a big automatic."
Yeah I know. I just thought with all the misinformation out there, that I'd clarify.
"Most people who know the difference between a clip and a magazine know the difference between automatic, and fully automatic."
True, though I still prefer semi-automatic, and fully automatic.
People unfamiliar with the terminology can and have come to the wrong conclusion due to it - or rather a of clarity within it.

As the world's militaries moved away from revolvers to self loading pistols in the early 20th century, these pistols (all of which are technically semiautomatic) were universally called "automatic" pistols.
Even the US Army nomenclature (which is usually quite precise) is "Pistol, Cal .45, Automatic, M1911A1"

18. That newspaper serves Kalispell, Montana and other smaller towns around |
|
there (Lakeside, Bigfork, Columbia Falls, Whitefish, etc.) It is the paper my father reads. The paper I read for a few years here and there during my lifetime.
That part of the country is very much hunting-crazy. People live to hunt there. And they are gun-crazy too. But there isn't much gun crime (except domestic violence) there. It's just a different part of the country than most other places. You'll never convince the people living in Montana that they should give up their weapons. Their experience of weapons is something completely different from most of the rest of the country. And when they hear about shootings - they just figure someone should have shot the shooter before he could get so much harm done. It's just how they think. Hard to explain...I grew up around it so I understand, but it's hard to explain.
The Aryan nation and other neo-nazis have decided Kalispell, Montana, is their home base. There are people who are fighting against them, and there are liberal pockets in Montana (hello, Missoula) but a whole lot of Montana consists of a bunch of really racist, igorant people.
I'm kind of glad I don't live there anymore. Although I like Missoula. Missoula is cool. The rest of Montana, not so much.

20. Thanks for the background. I had looked it up right before seeing your post. |

I wouldn't feel safe living in a gun-worshipping state like that, especially when there's a Wild West mentality. It's a beautiful state, though.
