U.S. Leads Developed World in Child Abuse Death Rate
U.S. Leads Developed World in Child Abuse Death Rate

The United States leads the developed world in child-abuse deaths, according to the organization Every Child Matters. More than 20,000 American children have died over the past decade in their own homes because of family members, with about 75% being under four years of age and nearly half being under one. The U.S. child-maltreatment death rate is three times higher than Canada’s and 11 times that of Italy.

The group attributes this unfortunate record to a number of factors, including the U.S.’s higher rates of teen pregnancy, dropping out of high school, violent crimes, imprisonment and poverty. In addition, Americans are less likely than citizens of other rich countries to have easy access to social services such as child care, parental leave and health insurance. Some observers also blame the well-intended, but often tragic emphasis in the United States nf keeping families together even if a child may be in danger.

1. Not even to mention, successful efforts on the part of the bluenoses
to make contraceptives and safe early abortion more and more difficult to access.

These "save the fetus at any cost" idiots don't seem to understand the probability of an unwanted pregnancy resulting in a mistreated child.

4. 94% cut to mental health funds since 1980.

Blame tax cuts for the rich (TCR).

Supply-side TCR is a flop.

It has destroyed our society.

6. Ain't got much money for mental health services when resources are limited and must be allocated to
funding a ravenous MIC, tax cuts for the wealthy, and non-taxation of a large number of highly profitable corporations. After all, one must learn to prioritize 'cause our national priorities perhaps define who we are more than anything else. :patriot:

3. Our relentless program on behalf of violence yields the expected result
The United States and its citizens believe in Violence. We willingly, even eagerly, will do anything for Violence, up to and including sacrificing our children to it. We use Violence as the Solution of First Resort, Last Resort, and every resort in between. We believe in Violence when it works. We believe in Violence even more fervently when it doesn't work. If Violence doesn't work, our first alternative is to try more Violence. If more Violence doesn't work, repeat the first alternative.

We celebrate Violence, glorify Violence, and practice Violence with a zeal that evangelicals of other causes can only envy. Proposals to reduce Violence are universally met with hoots of derision, and anyone who bad-mouths Violence had better be prepared to have our society's First Resort practiced on him.

It could be and can be no other way.
