Would it be useful to create a website like DU for #OWS members to share technique |
|
(media/tech, food, medical, legal) with all other groups?
If some sort of pulic forum for sharing victories, ideas, techniques and strategy would be beneficial...I personally don't have the money or any of the required skills...It's a thought. There have been several folks asking here how to begin their own city's occupation so a "how-to" forum with FAQs would be great, and some directory of all #Occupy web sites and streaming, etc.
Good idea? Bad idea? Too soon? Unneeded? They're doing fine as-is? I'm wary of ideas which would in any way deflect the amazing process they've established.

15. "Feedback" at nycga.cc gives a 503 error, and nycga.net can't connect... |

2. One problem is, it might become a focal point for surveillance and disinformation. Right now |
|
it's somewhat obfuscated.

problem, however, might present challenges on an unprecedented scale and use a lot of Moderator resources. These are factors that Skinner and the others will have to consider, if indeed they haven't already done so.
It's a natural fit - OWS on DU. I like the way it sounds and feels.

9. Ow wait, you mean here ON DU? #OWS sort of obsoletes the Democratic party, ya know... |
|
and the rest of the corrupt political process...I don't know about that, it's outside the scope of DU and brings partisanship to #OWS...

10. DU is not the Democratic Party. We're what's left of the resistance to BushCo that hasn't sold out |
|
to the official Democratic Party. That includes many self-identifying lifetime Democratic activists, like me. But, we are NOT the Democratic Party, unfortunately.

14. Musings about how OWS obsoletes the Democratic Party doesn't make it so. |

I take no offense in such talk. We all hope for some sort of Grand Transformation. Kinda like Clarke's "Childhood's End" - if it's going to happen, freaking out or trying to forbid discussion about it isn't going to stop it. I see no reason why OWS and DU are incompatible.

16. Good idea, a bit late. It's www.occupytogether.org... |
|
Check especially their resources and forum pages.
Our local Occupation in PDX also has an incredibly useful resource/info page.
