Thousands line up outside L.A. sports arena for a chance at free health care
Edited on Tue Oct-18-11 02:01 PM by nichomachus
This is what the conservatives have planned for the entire US.

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2011/10/thousands-in-line-for-free-medical-care.html

About 3,000 people were waiting in line Monday morning at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena -- some since Sunday -- for a chance to get free medical care in a massive temporary clinic.

The would-be patients planted themselves in folding chairs and huddled under blankets in the hope of getting one of 5,000 wristbands that will be given out for admission to the clinic.

Organized by CareNow, the clinic will run Thursday through Sunday and will be staffed by cardiologists, dentists, pediatricians and other medical professionals.

You'll know things are really bad if Doctors Without Borders shows up. (Note: This group isn't Doctors without Borders. It's another group.)

No one should have to wait outside a sports stadium for over 24 hours in the hopes of getting medical care.

1. Isn't it sad that Doctors Without Borders has to be here instead of places that can't afford
health care for their people?

Once again, we are using a resource that we needn't use if we just had sensible health care for the people of this country.

2. I hope I didn't mislead you with my comment
This isn't Doctors Without Borders. It's another group. Sorry for the confusion.

12. Oh, ooops. I just misread. I couldn't get the link to open.
Regardless, tell me it isn't sad that we have to have emergency clinics like this for basic healthcare because of the state this country is in. That is quite tell, Doctors Without Borders or not.

Every jackbutt in Congress should be forced to watch it then each should be interviewed afterwards.

Changing Doctor's Without Borders to "free healthcare".

4. USA - a third world country
Just wait until we start getting foreign aid from countries we have traditionally sneered at.

6. I am too
But it's sad for all the people who can't sit in line for 48 hours or are too sick to spend the night on the sidewalk -- or who live other places. The point is that this shouldn't be necessary.

7. You are right, "No one should have to", but if they offer that here, I will camp out for a day...
It is going to be sub-standard, cattle-call medicine.

But I have no health care, and my unemployment runs out next month.

I'd wait for a day for the chance to see a dentist and a doctor.

11. Wonder if FOX 11 will cover this at 10 p.m. (I highly doubt it.) Maybe
ABC-7 (owned by Disney) at 11 p.m. (Again, doubtful.) Perhaps NBC-4 (owned by GE)? Dream on.

Thanks for posting.

13. And what truly infuriates me is that many of these desperate
people are paying for the cadillac almost-free health care of their federal reps (and state reps, in some cases), but not only don't get such care and access themselves, or lose everything getting it, but those very reps are screwing them over by not permitting any kind of public health care plan to be implemented, cutting Medicaid and Medicare further, and fighting against any attempt to help people and make the system fairer. And then they'll have the nerve to call such desperate people, many of whom work their asses off for little money and no benefits, "lazy", "wanting something for nothing", etc., etc.
