Felon found with rifle at Westlake Park Where Occupy Seattle Is

SEATTLE -- A convicted felon has been arrested for carrying a rifle inside Westlake Park.

Bicycle officers patrolling the park for the Occupy Seattle rally Monday evening overheard a 40-year-old man say he was carrying a
Ruger rifle over his shoulder inside a case, said Sean Whitcomb with Seattle police. Officers searched the case to find an unloaded short barreled rifle with a pistol grip, Whitcomb said.

When asked if he had any ammunition, the man provided a box with 16 rounds inside.

Police checked the man's background and found he was a convicted felon, and it's illegal for felons to own firearms.

The man's rifle was confiscated as he was arrested and booked into the King County Jail.

1. More likely, he was preying on people who were part of

Occupy Seattle. Good thing he was picked up. All we need is some Freeper taking potshots at demonstrators.

2. Or worse, he was going to take potshots at police, so the demonstrators

would be blamed.

Attacking the protesters would be terrible, but attacking the police would be attacking the entire movement, not just a few people.
