It will never happen, but it would be glorious if it did.

Let's not destroy him too soon. Let him be a headache for Romney for a while first.

1. I Wouldn't be So Sure It Would Never Happen
You and I may look at Cain's interviews and see ignorance and red flags all over the place, but GOP primary voters don't seem to see it that way.

If he does get nominated, though, I agree with you. Despite being able to hire the best Republican handlers, he's going to come off as a lightweight who's out of touch with political issues.

Romney at least knows what he's doing.

2. Be careful what you wish for....
At work today and I work with a group of full on Teahadists, I started up a conversation about the Cain 999 plan and how it being such a regressive tax it would hurt the poor the most.... The first thing out of their mouths was, "are you a racist or something? You obvioulsy don't like Cain because he's a real black man, not a half black man, like the one you voted for, not a black man that grew up with his rich white granny and rich white friends and went to rich white schools and didn't go through any of the tribulations that a real black man like Herman Cain born in the south to American parents who came from slavery's roots and blah, blah, blah....

It kind of shocked me a little my only response was I never judge Politicians by the color of their skin only by the content of their character...

That started another whole diatribe so I just shut up after that....

5. That's what a contest between Cain and Obama
would be, I fear, a race to see who's blacker. We would see the nadir of American politics in an Obama vs. Cain match, and Republicans are very good at rolling around in the muck. People should be careful what they wish for.

8. Oh, stop it. Cain ain't Reagan. Hell, he ain't even Goldwater.

The ONLY people who would vote for Cain is the teahadists.... and there ain't enough of them.

Cain is EXACTLY what I wish for in a GOP candidate. An unwinnable candidacy.

Certainly better than a Romney nomination... Romney could possibly get enough independents to win.

12. Interesting you think like that....
Typically the Republican candidate gets very little support (5 percent max) from the black community. If Herman Cain was to somehow capture just 20 percent of those that would have typically voted Democratic the result would be about an overall 10 percentage point swing in the national average if you think that isn't much understand that Obama only won the 2008 election by 6 percentage points and that was a near landslide victory. In a close election Democrats would have not chance. Besides it would create a new narrative and potentially create momentum to push regressive conservative religious views....

Again Cain has already claimed and will continue to talk about his personal story and battles with segregation and the American Dream.... Obama is vulnerable to this kind of attack and a strong response from any white Democrats could be perceived as racist......

It is very troubling to think that Herman Cain may be the Republican nominee.... I hope and pray he is not.....

9. Uh, no.... Cain ain't no Reagan.

Romney is the scarier candidate for Obama, because Romney could win enough independent voters to pull this off.

Cain would get less than 40% of the vote.

Reagan was a governor of the largest state. He knew politics, had charisma, and had proven he knew how to run a government.

Cain's a joke that would have trouble getting Ross Perot-type numbers.

Some of you people have no sense of political reality.
