Obama unrepentant
“I guarantee it’s going to be a close election because the economy is not where it wants to be and even though I believe all the choices we’ve made have been the right ones, we’re still going through difficult circumstances,”
<http://news.yahoo.com/obama-potential-supporters-sense-recovery-still-hasnt-gotten-185914496.html>

Right choices like abandoning the public option, extending tax cuts for the rich, larding more tax cuts and tax credits into a so called "stimulus" bill, and taking three years into his administration to actually come out swinging over a piece of legislation. Those kinds of "right choices"?

A president in disconnect. He's damn right it's going to be a close election because a lot of people who had some sort of expectations for his administration have watched as "Hope and Change" have become "Same ol', Same ol'"

lot worse if one of the nut jobs on the right win the WH. We may think we are in tough times right now, but I guarantee it would be much worse with any of the crazies on the right as President.

8. Certainly I agree,
But frankly I think we can do much, much better. What I fear is that Obama's disappointing turn in the White House, which will be eight year most likely, will open the door to an even more devastating conservative two term president in 2016. Sort of like Carter followed by Reagan.

9. None of the things you've mentioned have anything to do with job creation.
As a person that has to buy my own health insurance, I want a public option more than just about anything else, but thats not going to generate 8-10 million jobs

As a person that wants the debt under control so it can be taken out of the debate, getting rid of the Bush tax cuts is a must do at some point in the near future. But doing so isn't going to generate 8-10 million jobs. Even if you make the argument that the additional revenue could be used for investment, it still won't be enough for the near term job creation. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure the middle class tax cuts and the unemployment insurance gained from that compromise do a whole lot more as ANYTHING that puts extra money into the pockets of those of us that actually spend our money (poor and middle class folk) is undeniably stimulative.

I guess the argument that they should have spent their political capitol on a huge jobs bill instead of spending it on healthcare reform and financial reform has a little bit of merit. Of course, had they done that and employment improved, people like you would have pretended that employment would have gotten better on its own anyway, and then you would be sitting here incessantly bitching about how they wasted all that time on jobs while ignoring healthcare and financial reform. I guarantee it.

17. Thanks for this post. Obama campaigned heavily on HCR. He believes, as do many others,
that had we had some sanity to start (thanks alot, Sarah Fucking Palin), good HCR reform ALONE could help this country tremendously, no?

13. I agree with some of this,
but if we had a sane Congress who didn't reject infrastructure/work programs, jump-starting the economy even a little bit, we could be in much better shape right now. Or better yet, how about a Congress who would have agreed to an additional stimulus -- oh, say about 2 years ago?

I believe the man is as sincere and genuine -- on that, we will never agree. I'll be waiting in line for his first memoir in 5 (possibly 2) years from now, and I'll put money down that we're going to hear some pretty remarkable information about what he's had to contend with, Congressionally speaking, as well major crises about every 60 fucking days.

Go ahead, flame away -- I don't give a shit anymore.

18. Sincere adn genuine, I have no problem with acknowledgin that,
But sincere and genuine, along with a couple of bucks, will get you a cup of coffee. What we needed coming into this term was a President who would fight, fight hard, fight dirty if necessary, an LBJ or Truman. That is what was needed, and instead we got a man who put bipartisanship and bend-over-backwards compromise ahead of everything else.

24. Because he also ran on being transformative --
as a constitutional scholar, he backed away to let Congress do its job. I think he realized too late that it wasn't going to go easily. On this I'll agree. However, I think Obama expected us to be all growed up by then ...

23. I still give a K&R because I agree with the beef over the lateness of his action, and yet, the
alternative to him is absolute insanity. The GOP is controlled now by lunatics that are anti-human slime. No other words are necessary to describe these bastards.
