‘Occupy Cleveland’ Protester Alleges She Was Raped

CLEVELAND, Ohio (CBS Cleveland) – An “Occupy Cleveland” protester tells police she was raped in her tent over the weekend.

Cleveland police are investigating an alleged sexual assault incident on Saturday at the “Occupy Cleveland” rally involving a 19-year-old female student from Parma.

According to police reports, the 19-year-old student was instructed by “Occupy Cleveland” personnel to “share a tent with the suspect due to a shortage of tents.” The suspect identified himself as “Leland” to the woman. The woman told police that after she had thought the suspect went to sleep in his own bed, she slept in a sleeping bag provided to her by the rally.

The student went to school on Monday and told a teacher about her sexual assault incident in Public Square — which is being classified as “kidnapping/rape” — prompting the teacher to immediately contact the authorities.

9. Yeah, I'm not saying it DIDN'T happen, but this is just the sort of

thing that the RW would make up and spread around (like that jerk who "infiltrated"). It's not that I distrust her, it's how much I distrust THEM. (Plus, the Duke/LaCrosse thing still haunts me.)

It's hard to fathom that there weren't tents nearby and that plenty of people would have come to her aid had she hollered.

I hope it's not true. I'd rather a propaganda story be spread than any one being raped. :(

18. After reading the article again (and some other posts/comments I

found when I Googled) my sense is that there's something odd about this. I saw no follow up story, no police comment and if that pic was of the Cleveland site, those tents were practically on top of each other -- nobody heard anything?

I hope both sides keep on top of this so we can find out the truth, either way. Isn't it sad that I automatically eye things like this with suspicion presuming it's a RW lie?
