Life In Prison For Man Who Raped Mentally Impaired Teen

CUYAHOGA COUNTY, Ohio—
A man found guilty of repeatedly sexually assaulting a mentally impaired teen he met online will spend the rest of his life in prison for his crimes.

According to Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason's office the teen, who lives in Bay Village, is cognitively impaired with a full-scale IQ of 73.

Petkovic initiated sexual conversations with the teen, according to prosecutors, and in August of 2009 began raping the victim. The rapes continued through December of 2009.


In April 2010, prosecutors say Petkovic pressured the victim, who had since turned 18, to marry him after the Bay Village Police Department began an investigation into his crimes. The two were married at a Middleburg Heights church.
