My Friends the TeaBaggers! |
|
There are a lot of similarities. It is just who the blame falls on that is different.
And the overriding thing about the TeaBagger is they don't want to pay for ANYTHING. AT ALL. NO TAXES.
I have a number of friends that fit into this.
One is a co-owner/partner of a weapons systems company. Retired military as is EVERYONE THAT WORKS THERE, Two of whom are colonels.. Got educated by the GI bill and got a VA Loan. Not old enough to go to Vietnam and not young enough to go to the gulf. perfect timing for the service. hates to pay taxes. hates State workers, welfare, and Gov't waste. And large Gov't.
Another is a retired FIRE CHIEF from Folsom CA, who has voted against tax increases every time they have come up. He was rank and file for 30 years. I told him the OWS were fighting for him and his brothers and he said "No they're not"... I told him that they just wanted t insure that they have the same things that you enjoy and he told me "We cannot afford that"..... BTW< his entire family is in the fucking fire department. All long term.
The other, who mentioned "that once we get rid of the nigger president" everything will be okay. Mid forties, Cement/construction guy. two kids. Just built a house. WITHOUT PERMITS. Got caught, the county shut him down for a year (While the market tanked). Wrote threatening notes to the county, got arrested etc.. Just got laid off. He doesn't know it yet, but his working in construction days are over. He is not skilled enough to be in a union (and has always been strongly anti union) as a journeyman, and there is no other work out there right now other than the type of work that only union companies and their highly skilled workers can do or bid on).
Then there is his buddy. Salesman. 52 years old. Child support, the works. His company offers healthcare, but at a very high deductible and high copays and share of cost. he too was a construction guy but got out of it before the crash. He makes not enough to get by. Blames it all on the "Nigger in the white house".
Then there is my good friend RL. retired Colonel AF. Smart guy. he keeps telling me that "You can get anything off the internet"... Then tells me he read something, and took it as fact, in the Wall Street Journal.....RL by the way is a triple dipper. he worked for the State of CA, retired military and was a university professor. He too thinks his taxes are too high.
Me I got none of that shit. I bought into the meme that unions were bad. FELL FOR IT HOOK LINE AND SINKER. Now me and a lot of my friends my age are not going to have what the older guys got. And neither are you unless you organize and bring workers rights into the workplace again.

the Teabaggers aren't against government benefits, they're against government benefits for other people.
