Yes, it does. And it sucked to be us when I was a kid, too. Aww, you got out of school and you didn't get a six-figure job right away. Welcome to the real world, Sunshine! You're 23 years old. Take a shitty job and live in a shitty roach-infested apartment like the rest of us did and pay your fucking dues. You're 23! Mommy and Daddy aren't there for you anymore. Work it. Work it hard, and eventually, like us "old" folks, you'll work your way up. I don't feel sorry for your plight. It's called "life."

On edit: she is on national tv talking about her cover story in New York magazine. Exactly how much does that suck? STFU.

4. I hope they don't have her there representing OWS
OWS will not be televised (on Morning Joe).

By the way, to a lot of people, MoJo means Mother Jones, though "on" was a tipoff that it was about TV. :hi:

5. Ditto
have to deal with her type from Monday to Friday - their sense of entitlement is breath-taking.

6. My one 'entitled' sister complained two weeks after our mother died, that she wasn't
inheriting a million dollars.

Of course, her bar-tending/modeling degree took her so far on her own.

7. I wasn't successful until I was in my mid-40s
And I'm glad it took so long. Because I know where I've been, I know how far I've come, and I appreciate the journey a lot more because of it.

8. You horribly mistook that interview.
Thats a lot of judgement you are throwing around on a kid who is expressing the sentiment of generation that is generally scared of what the future holds. These students are loaded down with student debt and they do not have the luxury of walking away from their obligations the way millions of home owners did.

You should also note that she wrote the article for New Yorker magazine, therefor she is probably doing just fine. She was writing on behalf of some of the students participating in occupy.

Full disclaimer: We paid for half of his recently-awarded BoS degree, he's saddled with the other half in student loans. Fortunately, the company I work for was able to give him a job as a freelancer...as such, he is taking home some very sweet cake. I was quite proud to see that with his first check, he bought himself a new backpack and sent a payment to Sallie Mae. When I was his age, I think I used my first check to buy a bag of weed.

13. Hahaha, your honesty is refreshing.
It's awesome that you were able to help your son out. So many would love to be in his position.

FTR: I think I bought bomber leather jacket with my first check, I wanted to look cool when I got to the park where I proceeded light up a joint with my friends. lol

18. Well, the other part I left out...

He has his BoS, but he's back living at home after school. Our "empty nest" was fun, but too brief.

Again, I am very thankful that I work for a great company who was able to give him a job. It's temporary, because it's politics...he'll be out after the November elections, and we won't hire freelancers again until June, when the 2012 election ads really crank up. But in this economy, he is very lucky, and I am very happy to be able to help him out...because now I can charge him rent! :hi: Just kidding...kinda sorta. The best thing is, it will give him that heroin taste of money...now that he is making it and not asking Mom and Dad to infuse his back account, hopefully it will inspire him to look for his own gig. Hopefully. Oh dear God...hopefully.

15. If she has a job, then she should be paying off the student loans;
at 23 she shouldn't expect to be making a great salary, but should be smart enough to economize and save a little each week after paying bills. (this assumes that she isn't dealing with what so many have to, paying bills and otherwise helping out other members of their family until there's nothing left for them. I didn't see the interview but it doesn't sound like that was her situation.)

I make a good salary and am STILL (years later) paying off student loans. Ok at a 3% interest rate I don't really object.

The only student debt I care about is the ones who really can't get jobs with degrees that should get them jobs, due to the crappy economy. THAT is what needs to be addressed: the lack of jobs. And of course if there are ridiculous interest rates being applied, that too ... but how in the hell did that happen, and who would take out a student loan with a rapacious interest rate in the first place?? (maybe I'm sheltered? or was always broke enough to get the special low rates? I didn't know it was legal to charge high rates on student loans.)

16. She's got a cover story in New York Magazine (NOT The New Yorker!)
My guess is she's doing alright. That is why I made the op...I don't like hearing whiny rich kids telling everyone else how tough it is. Yes, it is tough. But why didn't New York Magazine contract an actual unemployed kid to write the article? Instead, they found the daughter of a friend's boss (admittedly, I am TOTALLY speculating here...but I know how the biz works) to whine about how she and her friends don't get handed CEO positions when they get out school. Cry me a river.

12. When all jobs except executive jobs pay 7-10 an hour, that's what you get
There's a lot of support for bringing wages down for all professions, all workers, to that 7-15 dollar an hour level. Since more than that is 'rich'. Envy sucks.
