3. So everybody MUST believe
that government provides EVERYTHING for EVERYONE, or that it provides NOTHING for ANYBODY? There is no way to believe that it should help those in need while also respecting the rights of individuals?

Everybody MUST support the 2nd Amendment or not support it? There is no way to respect the 2nd Amendment but also believe that common sense laws to protect others are needed?

There is a middle, it is made up of the majority and it keeps this freakin country safe and sane from the extremes who believe it's all or nothing.

4. I believe that Mr. Adams was
discussing not the need to compromise and reach an equitable accommodation with those with whom you disagree, but rather fighting energetically for what you believe to be right. As we know Mr. Adams was a feisty, opinionated character who was not one to sit idle when he could avoid doing so, yet he also stated that we should be "a government of laws and not of men." Therefore I suspect that (using your example of the 2nd Amendment) while adhering to law one can certainly feel anyway one wants on an issue.

5. I am talking of beliefs, not feelings
Is it so hard to accept that people believe there is a fair middle ground where government can govern while still respecting individual rights?

The extremes on the other hand, try to create laws based on how they feel on an issue.

6. I wish Adams could address
our current crop of politicians.
