4. But it's useful, because the 1% are probably distributed similarly
The big concentrations are the Boston-Washington and San Francisco-San Diego (BosWash and SanSan) megapolises, with the Texas Triangle of Houston-Dallas-SanAntonio in third place.

Many of the tensions in the Republican Party revolve around competition between these three centers of wealth and the various sectors of the economy that they specialize in.

2. What I find interesting
Those that are toadies for the rich would make you think they would do anything to pay less taxes. I know Texas as lower taxes and I think Florida does to why wouldn't all these rich people gravitate to states that have low income, low or no property tax, etc. to maximize what they get to keep?

Another think when a rich person complains that they have to pay X in taxes, lets say $1,000,000.00 I think the first things you should ask them is how much were you 'allowed' to keep. If your paying that much in taxes obviously you are retaining millions of dollars in after tax dollars. So when they tell me how much it is (they are more likely to tell you it is none of your business) my reaction would be 'then shut the f* up about how much you have to pay in taxes. If you are thinking I am going to cry for you paying a million in taxes when you make more in one year than I probably will in a lifetime you are crazier than I thought you were". End of Rant!

3. If you add three zeros to the end of each figure -you get the population of each city
(or city + its metro area) **approximately**. Detroit, Philadelphia, and San Diego (among others) being notably absent.
