Bill O'Reilly Book Going Like Fire In Afghanistan

Troops in Afghanistan Burn Donated Copies of Bill O’Reilly’s Books
What did the soldiers in Afghanistan do with those copies of Pinheads and Patriots your dad sent in a care package? They set them on fire.
You're stuck in some god-awful outpost in the middle of nowhere. Internet access is spotty, and you and your buddies have all thoroughly pawed over the one copy of Maxim still holding together. You've even read that copy of Pride and Prejudice twice, just to keep the boredom at bay. Imagine your excitement when you receive a box of books from a random stateside do-gooder. You open it eagerly and... Pinheads and Patriots?

Some jerk sent us two boxes of this awful book (SPOILER ALERT: George Washington — Patriot; George Soros — Pinhead) instead of anything soldiers at a remote outpost in Afghanistan might need, like, say, food or soap. Just burned the whole lot of them on my Commander's orders.

That's according to Everqueer, a Tumblr maintained by a soldier serving in Afghanistan. It's left unsaid who sent the care package, but it's worth noting that O'Reilly has previously promoted his books by promising to send a free copy to troops in Iraq with every $26 purchase. And he's a supporter of Operation Shoebox, a charity that arranged care packages for troops.

8. It could be worse.
My wife received a box marked "Donations" where she works with the agency that handles foster care in our county.

It was full of Scientology books and DVD's.

9. O'Lielly's book: Charred Chickenhawkery
Our troops got no use for Republicon chickenhawks like Bill DraftDodger O'Reilly.

It is a sin that Rush DraftDodger Limbaugh gets pumped and spewed at them.

Support our troops: Dodge Rush's Chickenhawk Republicon Bullshit.

10. waste of paper, death of trees
I cry when I think of all the trees that died to provide the paper for books by O'Reilly and all the other right wing ideologues. There are times that I wish that Guttenburg hadn't invented the printing press.

12. I find this article very disturbing.
To me the act of burning ANY book is sickening.
I am especially outraged that the troop's commander
ordered that these books be destroyed.

We are a nation of laws not personal opinions.
We either have free speech or we don't.

For the record, I think that Bill O'Reilly thinks and
behaves like a spoiled brat five year old, but he has
the right to say whatever he wants and no one should
prevent his or any one else's opinion from being heard.

Some people on this site will call me a conservative troll
and other derogatory names because of this post and they
have that right.

To them I say that my love of this country's laws and
traditions are more important than anyone's opinions.

13. It's also possible that they only burned those books that were not taken.
Instead of storing random stuff everywhere it's possible that he burned them, not to suppress 'literature', but because he simply didn't have any place to put them and nobody actually wanted them.

14. I'm guessing space and weight may be an issue. That may be a very mobile unit and they may not want

to have to store and transport multiple copies of a book that no one wants anyway.

15. I imagine the reason for this was not the content of the books
it's just a really idiotic move to send troops in need 20 copies of a book nobody will have any interest in reading. What these troops could have used instead were actual supplies that would help them out in the field.
