More than 50 exotic animals, including camels and tigers, escaped from a private Zanesville, Ohio, preserve, with 48 later killed by law enforcement in Muskingum County. Activists say the incident shows that Ohio needs to regulate exotic animals.

By Andrew Mach, Contributor / October 19, 2011

Leahy says her organization helped former Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland draft an executive order to prohibit private possession of dangerous wild animals, which he signed upon leaving office, but new Gov. John Kasich does not enforce it.

1. Meh... I would have to say that extremely rare incidents are not need for legislative alarm.

I'm not a big fan of kneejerk legislative action that addresses exceedingly rare/isolated events.
That's the kind of behavior that gets us where we are today.

2. Really?

So let us all get a couple lions or bengal tigers to amuse ourselves.

I watch the discovery channel and i've never seen any African tribe with pet lions.

But I have seen a program where tigers in India are eating people and the village is scared shitless.

Are you concerned that lawmakers will include hamsters in a law that forbids such animals for private citizens?

These situations are extremly rare because people are, and should be, heavily scrutinized for having 30 or so dangerous animals.

Kneejerk legislation? Thats what got us where we are today?

I wish you would explain what your thinking in some detail.

Edit for not using spell check. Does it work?

3. What I want to know is this:
Will Zanesville, Ohio be having the weirdest cook-out in history this weekend?

4. i just saw Jack Hanna on Rachel Maddow trying to defend Kasich
didn't sound convincing to me. saying stupid shit liek where would htey have put those animals. like WTF ? even if that was an issue it would have at least prevented more animals from being bought/sold in the state.
sounded pretty defensive.
